Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

Atlast a sigh of relief for the bollywood fans.the year 2014 was so far going pathetic for the Indian movies fans but this long wait has been broken and the one to do so is The Movie Khoobsurat.Awesome acting by Soonam Kapoor And The debut-ant Fawad Khan.Sound Tracks were even good. The story a bit too draggy but still was good enough to hold the audiences on to their seats.all in all it was a good mixture of comedy and romance with a bit of drama too.thumbs up to the production of the movie and its cast.Hope you guys continue to do the awesome job and help bollywood revive its prestige unlike what the other movies are doing. So i will request everyone to go and watch this one.its a complete family entertainer Habeb Al_janaby

Loosely based on the 1980 film by the same name, 'Khoobsurat' is a decent, breezy watch, that has something for the romantics. Its not flawless, by any means, but it benefits from good direction & impressive performances. 'Khoobsurat' Synopsis: A hopelessly romantic physiotherapist meets a handsome young Rajput prince who is the complete opposite of her and engaged to someone else.'Khoobsurat' is a light-hearted, simple romantic-comedy, about simple characters, under circumstances of their own. Indira Bisht's Screenplay is nicely written, although the pace in the second-hour begins to lose. Also, 'Khoobsurat' overstays its welcome by at least 20-minutes. Some trimming, was strongly needed.Shashanka Ghosh's Direction is good. Cinematography is well-crafted. Editing is a weak link. The film is loose, at times. Music by Sneha Khanwalkar & Badshah is fantastic. Performance-Wise: Sonam Kapoor looks gorgeous & fits the role well, however, she's mechanical in scenes that demand her to flaunt her comedic side. Fawad Khan is wonderful, enacting his part with dignity & control. Ratna Pathak Shah is terrific, but its Kirron Kher who steals the show, with an electric performance. Aamir Raza Hussain deserves a special mention. He's first-rate!On the whole, 'Khoobsurat' has its own charm, indeed!

Reviewed by: Dare Devil Kid (DDK)Rating: 3.8/5 starsWalt Disney, never a stranger to princesses, crowns another as it ventures further into Bollywood with Shashanka Ghosh's romantic confection, "Khoobsurat" – a variation on Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 1980 film of the same name. And the studio's specialty proves a pretty good fit.Mili Chakravarty (Sonam Kapoor) is a high-energy, middle-class, and somewhat daffy physiotherapist for an IPL cricket team when she is hired by an aristocratic family near Jaipur to rehabilitate its patriarch (Aamir Raza Hussain), who's been using a wheelchair for years. His son, Vikram (the heavy-lidded Pakistani heartthrob, Fawad Afzal Khan), a shrewd businessman, is not only engaged to a woman of his economic station but is also monitored by his imperious, upper- crust mother (Ratna Pathak Shah). The brash, often clumsy Mili, in her mixed-pattern ensembles, descends on their estate like a tornado, bumping into statuary, dancing with the servants and winning hearts, especially Vikram's.Anne Hathaway made a splash in Disney's, "The Princess Diaries," and the rangy Ms. Kapoor (who descends from a Bollywood dynasty) shares some of her early incandescence, along with a Julia Roberts-like smile. Khan wisely underplays against her supernova, never trying to eclipse her. Kiron Kher is her usual rambunctious, affable self while Ratna Pathak Shah impeccably reiterates her famous character of Maya Sarabhai from the small-screen. Aamir Raza Hussain clearly should be offered plenty more film roles.Bollywood films have appropriated Hollywood tales and imagery for years, but Mr. Ghosh, using a pleasing pastel palette, deftly achieves a particularly Disney-like polish. And he avoids making-of- a-royal pitfalls: Ms. Kapoor's character never abandons her humor for refinement. Twice, Mili says that she was raised to speak up for herself. Not a bad characteristic for a future Rajput princess."Khoobsurat" turns out to be that extremely rare remake that's actually better than the original (as good as Hrishikesh Mukhergee's film was, Ghosh's retelling surprisingly manages to better it ever- so- slightly with renewed verve, zest, and infectious zaniness). And even though Sonam isn't even a shade as terrific as Rekha was, she still breathes new life into the story and holds her own in this remake. This one goes down as one of the better rom-coms of Bollywood.

Khoobsurat(1980) was a cult film of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and it's still remembered as one of the best comedies of 80s. It's remake is set in Modern era, unlike it's original it lacks simplicity but yet it's a quite a watchable fare. The film is produced by Disney and Rhea/Anil Kapoor making it another home production to help Sonam Kapoor in her career. The film has her hogging the frame throughout no doubt,However it isn't that bad a film. The film is more an adaptation, here the story is changed, Rekha's character is changed to a psychoterapist and lot more changes, the setting is changed to a Rajput family. However the impact is reduced due to it's predictability and also at times it gets sluggish especially in second half. The end could be betterDirection is decent Music is okaySonam Kapoor does her part well, though not comparing her to Rekha yet she plays her part well, Fawad is superb in his Hindi debut Ratna Pathak Shah plays the role her mother played in the original and she does well,Kirron Kher repeats her act, while others are all good
