Even though the start of the movie is interesting, it falls flat on its face after the 1st quarter. Very illogical movie, as if the audience is dumb. Why doesn't Kareena never dials 911 to call police after seeing Salma's dead body? How stupid it is to call Diya Mirza instead of altering authorities of the plain bomb. - Why does Vivek decides to take matters in his own hands? It could have been a much better movie, if Vivek worked with FBI and acted as a mole. That would make it a much more logical thriller. No wonder, it fell flat on the box office. I just can't understand why Indian story writer and director feel it is OK to make illogical movies like this? Here is my message to them: FU losers, We are NOT stupid. Do not make illogical movies.Glad, I watched it only on netflix streaming and thus did not waste my hard earned money on this piece of illogical crap.

Actually, I saw Kurbaan in November of 2009 but didn't write a review on it until now. When I left the theater, I remember asking myself how much did Kurbaan move me as a cinematic experience. It has managed to stir our minds about the true roots of terrorism, but only in some pieces. Though a good movie, Kurbaan stumbled a lot to enthrall us, especially the first half.Nearly everyone got meaty roles. Om Puri sleep walks through the role of a 'leader terrorist'. It didn't even test a quarter of his acting calibre. Saif Ali Khan was brooding, tough & menacing. Vivek Oberoi showed the right balance of anger, fear & vulnerability in his performance. Kareena Kapoor gave it her best shot. She's a seductress in the steamy scenes. Other actors like Kiron Kher and Diya Mirza (inconsequential role, really) were impressive too. Some of the American actors were wonderfully natural, especially the confrontation scene between Vivek Oberoi and a white American girl. The girl was superb.Maybe it's the first time direction of Renjith but some of the scenes in the movie were 'choppy'. Let me explain - in the first half, Saif & Kareena keep meeting each other in every consecutive scene like as if they were performing on a stage! Scene A - Saif & Kareena meet at a cafe, Scene B - Saif proposes to Kareena, Scene C - they move to US. The editing didn't help make the scenes move seamlessly from one to another. I did feel I was watching a drama on a stage. The title song 'Kurbaan' is cool. And the way explosion shots were tackled was applause-worthy.Verdict - Doesn't engage you all the time but still, a very good directorial debut by Renjith. Watchable.

The cover of the movie made me believe this movie could be the thriller of the year. I did not expect it would be a terrorist movie. Although the subject is daring, the movie was very slow. Cast was great, except Vivek Oberoi (great actor though). The biggest twist of the movie, that Saif was a terrorist also, came in the beginning. The rest of the movie wasn't worth watching. It is very clear that in most terrorist movies the Muslim culture is involved. It would be better if that would be taken care of, instead of making movies about it. But making a movie about it, makes people think about it as a subject that leads to discussion. In that fact the movie is very successful. On the other hand the terrorists are shown as monsters. It's like an overblown Nazi-movie where Hitler is a monster. Let not forget, even though terrorists or people who take other people's lives are crazy by putting their action in the hands of religion, they still are people. In that matter Saif Ali Khan gave us a great performance and the other men of the terrorist group gave me a cheap shiver. There is one thing I did not understand in the scene where Kareena Kapoor took the bullet out of Saif's chest; Why did Saif scream a moment later when the bullet was already taken out of his chest and not when Kareena was taking the bullet out?

Any film made from this banner, we are supposed to be in awe and admiration and as a viewer just blessed to see the latest offering. Not this viewer. This Banner has money to burn and money to throw away on Advertising, Foreign locations and Actors-just to lure the public into seeing a movie which is a piece of trash compared to the quality movies coming out of Mumbai and not to mention previously from this Production House. I wish they would have spent that money on a decent story and a competent story teller. Just because someone works with Karan Johar doesn't make him a good director. The talent has to be innate. The artistry is not acquired by osmosis. Here are few Gems from this Movie-We see culdesac of houses in what appears to be a suburb of New York-yet no trace of people or cars! No one hears a woman's scream! The infrared scenes are just a torture to watch. The story is a masala of few movies that have come out recently. The movie lacks a cohesion for the most part. The initial scenes between the the two lovers are just unreal and typical of a GenX director and the dialog rightly fits in with the concept too-penned by a an Autistic GenX. In the hands of a good director a half-baked-story could have turned out well, but in the hands of this director it remains half-baked and a disaster for this Production House. This director should go back to his day-job...As a Gaffer. How did this Imbecile tiffin boy from Goa, ever get to be a director in the first place. How does these morons with a IQ in double digits get to make a movie in Bollywood? We got too have some kind of Committee to screen these Directors and dialog writers before they make fools of themselves and the Indian Cinema.
