Too much of everything
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
I was searching for a good action movie when I found this gem and when I saw the score I thought "oh my god, this will be hardcore GARBAGE" but oh boy I was wrong. I really enjoyed this movie,it's not about big explosions and CGI it's just hardcore action.Bloody and intense. The action and the fight scenes are very well done,Ethan Hawke is amazingly good at being an action star and the story is kinda creative,I never seen anything like this before I think. Still, it's not the best movie I ever saw but at least it's a well made action flick which deserves a better rating.
So boring and slow paced. I was very surprised considering it's Ethan hawke. Was truest a waste of my time.
For what was intended as an action picture, "24 Hours to Live" was slow-paced from start to finish. The languid flashback sequences and the extenuated close-ups evoked an uneven tempo to this poorly paced film.Ethan Hawke plays the mercenary Travis Conrad, a hired killer in the employ of the nefarious Red Mountain organization. While he did not realize it during his employment with the group, Red Mountain is an evil, militant group engaging in mass murder and horrific human experiments. By using the human guinea pigs, Red Mountain has discovered a way to temporarily bring dead people back to life, albeit for only a 24-hour period. It is suggested without filling in the details that this resurrection process is to change the face of warfare. Red Mountain also has one-half of the Senate in its hip pocket.Conrad himself becomes one of the lucky people brought back to life for one day, after he received fatal gunshot wounds. But, upon further review, Conrad decides to spend his last day on the planet in taking revenge on his old employer and saving a young mother and child in the process."24 Hours to Live" was intended as a stylish action film. But it lacked both style and action. The drawn-out and inconsequential conclusion was once again bogged down in flashbacks that killed the dramatic tension and ended the film not with a bang, but with a whimper.
So, this movie is a cliche and we've seen it mosly before, but so what? The is about an assassin who is played by Ethan Hawke, who is killed and bought back to life. That is all need be said. The movie action is pretty standard, but in an era of overused CGI and everyone bandwagoning on Superhero movies, this is a gem.It is more of a thriller action movie, with a sci-fi twist. It seems to be a smaller budge movie, but is a treat to watch with a high testosterone crowd or on the weekend. I give it an 8 out of 10. It will not win an Oscar, but way better and enjoyable than those artsy fartsy movies than win awards due to identity politics or female empowerment.
