I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

I typically try to stray away from horror films (or any films for that matter) that came out after the year 2000, but out of boredom and a newfound need to watch every slasher I can get my hands on I picked this one up on the cheap in the used section. It actually exceeded my expectations by a lot."Shredder" is a throwback to the classic slasher formula of the 1980's. The kills are inventive and the gore plentiful, and the characters, particularly Cole, have plenty of one liners to go around. I've realized a lot of post-00's movies of all genres incorporate "bro humor" (see Dane Cook) as a way to reach the mind numbed masses that are watching them. In a roundabout, twisted way this actually is funnier to me than well thought out humor, if only because it tries so hard... Or maybe I'm actually just a "bro"..."Shredder" doesn't have the most convoluted of plots, but the fast pacing and entertaining characters make up for it. Although, if you too have seen way too many slasher films, it should be easy for you to pinpoint the killer pretty quickly before the final revealing. The last ten minutes or so are excellent, albeit extremely over the top.I must say though, I would have substituted more nudity, particularly of the MAIN ACTRESS for some of the gore if need be. I mean, what is a slasher flick with only one set of knockers anyway?! Not enough if you ask me...All in all, "Shredder" is a very entertaining way to spend 90 minutes, and I would recommend it to anyone into the golden age of slashers. This is a very fine throwback that never takes itself too seriously, but still delivers the death and stalker elements I so crave.

Getting ready to watch Shredder, I was prepared to see a blatant Scream/Urban Legend/I know what you did last Summer rip off. And it's pretty much that. A poor rip off of every teen movie made from 1996 onward. The story is about a group of young snowboarders who go up to a cabin in the mountains for the weekend. The characters are your average horror cast. The dorky guy that can't get laid, the girl who's willing to do it with almost anyone, the jock, the ditsy girl, etc...Pretty much they all get knocked off in gruesome ways by a killer wearing ski gear and a mask. There is also a bit of a back story. We see scenes of some people snowboarding and a little kid die accidentally on the same mountain all of our main characters are on. In those scenes, we also see some older kids who simply leave the child on the mountains. So it's obvious the killer is probably someone out for some sort of revenge. The suspects include some creepy townsfolk, a girl who likes to ski nude, and some guy with a foreign accent. The deaths are sort of gruesome and pretty well done for a lower budget movie. Shredder gets points for the decent stalking scenes by the killer as well as the murders done in the snow and on the ski lift. The acting is nothing special though. Shredder is an average teen slasher movie, nothing special.5/10

Shredder like any classic horror film incorporates, hot chicks, sweet deaths, snowboarding, and a giant snowplow with no regard for human life. Viewers will be thrilled by not only the skill of the of the urchins and skys (Johnny Tsunami reference) but will also enjoy the suspenseful creative death scenes. It will keep you guessing throughout the entire movie with its complex and original plot! The best scene by far is the final death sequence which will plow your mind! I recommend watching this scene in slow motion to get the full effect of this carnage. Shedder is sure to entertain audiences of all ages and is cool as the other side of the mountain.

I love this movie. It's one of the best straight to video slasher that's come out recently. The kills are great. The killer looks scary and the blood looked good too (What did they use?) And it's funny! Not many Horror/Comedies can pull it off but this one did. One running joke with the ski lift will make you laugh out loud. The characters are surprisingly lovable. While the one you wanted to die died first, the ones you wanna live go on a rollercoster of danger. You want them to live, but will they? While it does have a simple plot, this movie fails to bore. Nothing will make you roll your eyes or "fast foreward to the good scenes" So go rent this.Enjoy!
