The Bell Witch Haunting (2013)

Fantastic!

Best movie ever!

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.

A family moves to Tennessee and buys a home that was on the land of the Bell witch. They set up cameras and you know the rest. This film is far worse than the Paranormal series. Perhaps the bright spot was cutie Catherine Alter who played a teen who had her own blog "Dressing with Dana." The teen son also had a camera as did Policeman Bungalon who had a shirt cam, the house was wired, and even the bonehead electrician had a cam, "Get Electric with Denny" (GED). All this added up to a bunch of herky-jerky motion of stuff we have seen before and better and just about yesterday. The house had a pool, I'm surprised they didn't steal the pool crawler too.Teens who can't get enough of the Paranormal hand held stuff might like this, but I found it boring, except for the playful ghost (that uses strings) to remove covers off of sleeping teen girls in bra and panties.Parental Guide: F-bomb. I will never understand why this genre has survived. The original found footage films were great but there's really no way of taking the genre to another level. This problem only allows for trash like this to exist subsequently wasting my time. The only reason this has a 3 star rating is because someone got triggered by all of the 1 stars and gave it a 7.

I LOVE found footage horror films. Especially independent ones, because without a big-budget production company calling the shots, it forces and encourages creativity from the film. This, however was not an example of that kind of creativity. The movie started off good - most of the time when I watch a found footage film, if I can get through the first few minutes without losing interest, it's usually good. But dear lord, this movie was far from good. Throughout the film we seem the same thing repeated over and over and over and over again. Every night the daughter is having a seizure-esque screaming fit in her sleep. Her parents rush to her aid while her brother just sits there recording with a camera. . .and what was she screaming about you ask? When the parents ask her the very same question, she always responds "It was really scary, and dark, so much blood". . .Seriously? And that's just one example of how this movie comes up short. All-in-all, I must say that there was barely any plot, aside from "Typical white family movies into haunted house". I guess the acting was okay. (Most of the time). Only reason I give it 4 stars instead of two is because the beginning was good.

(all spoilers here) The acting in the movie was amateur, the police were using the wrong call signs for the letters of the license plates plus they ran like they were scared. Real police would not run from a crime scene. The witch was to life like and the camera filming was overly done to look like it was a typical amateur person with a camera. The light in the living room after the mother turned it off was to easy to predict that it would turn back on. the electrician getting electrocuted while wearing insulated gloves was just wrong. The produce rand director were so into making a scary ghost story they forgot to see obvious problems.
