Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

After watching this on TV and thoroughly hooked throughout I want congratulate the cast and crew. I don't understand the haters. The FX were not as believable or pretty as higher budgeted films but then I have yet to be convinced by any of the best out there. Plenty of FX films are plain awful because of bad story But this held my attention through imaginative scenes and shots. While you could say a lot of FX were impossible they are no worse than all the liberties taken by other films. For example In space you can hear sound all ships have gravity Batman Jason Bourne et all fight nonsensically with sound fx giving meaning to nothing. Anyway the point is as far as believability goes its a work of fiction made believable by excellent acting camera-work sound and story. Well done.

Once you see that the production company of a "film" is The Asylum, all bets are off and you cannot take anything seriously. To wit - Dean Cain and his acting. For the majority of the movie he sits in the pilots' seat of the plane and looks like he's trying to sh.t out a bowling ball. The air marshall, who I think is Washington, the sweathog from Welcome Back Kotter, was a good laugh. The psychopath dude, not sure if he was supposed to portray some kind of middle eastern terrorist or Spanish one, but whatever. What a great role to ham it up. And that dude did. I really had to laugh at the military clowns. The general in charge had one expression on his face - that of angry constipation. And the scenes outside of the base looked more like a nuclear powerplant than an army base. Robin Givens acting was terrible. I guess Mike Tyson must have beat her so many times during their short marriage that she now is permanently punch drunk. Or she's smoking crack. Because she both acted and looked awful. If you've got two hours to waste, watch this or not.

Volcanic lava appears to eat a man in Hawaii as he talks to Robin Givens (as Lisa Whitmore) on the phone. She has a bandaged finger. The volcanoes are still pretty hungry because they next try to down an airplane flying around the Pacific Ocean. In order to get heroic star Dean Cain (as Rick Pierce) into the driver's seat, the airplane's pilots both die during turbulence. However, the plane goes on auto-pilot, due to terrorism concerns, and just keeps flying around hungry volcanoes. This looks like a job for Superman, but Mr. Cain can only turn into a chubbier Burt Reynolds. Acting from his seat for the entire movie, Cain tensely grimaces...The Kondelik Brothers and the folks at "The Asylum" may have noticed the publicity surrounding the studio's awful movies had reached a feverish pitch with "Sharknado" (2013) and others. "Airplane vs. Volcano" can genuinely classified as hilariously bad. The directors skillfully guide cameras and performers from one ridiculous scene to another, keeping almost everyone's tongue in cheek...The exceptions, top-billed Cain and Ms. Givens, are largely quarantined from the action. Cain ends up contributing mightily to the silliness. Givens is dispensable but sexy. The real "stars" are volcano expert Matt Mercer (as Landon Todd) and Earth-bound specialist Morgan West (as Neil Tully). With the directors' guidance, Mr. Mercer and Mr. West handily steal, and anchor, the movie...Of the supporting characters, officer Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (as Jim Kirkland) most captures the goofy mood of the story. He consistently portrays his character with both dignity and humor. His is the best-written role and the heart of the story. The highlight may be when handsome auto-body worker Anthony Marks (as Frank Matthews) volunteers to go on a mission outside the flying airplane. Incredibly, they buckle together seat belts and string Mr. Marks out of the plane; you must cross your fingers and hope one of the buckles doesn't come undone. The lovely Tamara Goodwin (as Rita Loss) and crazed David Vega (as Carlos Crieger) fill their roles well...Followers of good bad movies should definitely catch "Airplane vs. Volcano". You'll have a fun flight.****** Airplane vs. Volcano (3/28/14) Kondelik & Kondelik ~ Dean Cain, Matt Mercer, Morgan West, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs

When this movie started I thought it was going to be a comedy. Then I realized they actually meant for this to be serious. As it turns out it was a comedy that started taking itself FAR too serious. As other reviewers have already stated it is cheesy with shallow characters that are as ridiculous as I have ever seen. There is so little fact that I laughed till I thought I would cry. It was worth watching just for the laugh.I would say that the acting was like something out of middle school production but I wouldn't insult the middle school students. The CGI was substandard at best.
