Chashme Baddoor (2013)

It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.

Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

Sir, is this your idea of remaking a film that you admire? Sir, you cannot just discard the film's soul, which had made it into a coveted entry in the library of Indian cinema, and just process the skin. Sai Pranjpe's Chashme Buddoor wasn't just a comedy, it was an ode to the vagaries of the city's lifestyle. It was a brilliant character study filled with memorable moments. Making your film "badder" (the cue in the title) to match the modern bad world, without backing it up with anything substantial, hardly counts.The new Omi's rhymes fall flat compared to Rakesh Bedi's poetry. As stand-alone movie too, it fails to impress. Ram Gopal Varma made the same mistake with Aag, though your effort isn't horrendous like RGV's, it still comes across empty. Why attempt something if cannot raise or at least match the bar? Some shoes are hard to fill.

Now with the trend of remaking old films, after Sajid Khan remade Himmatwala and made it the worst film of 2013, David Dhawan did with Chashme Badhoor which is a remake of the same title film of 1981 which was a classic. David Dhawan borrows some incidents from that film and adds his own modern take which is welcome but here the gags barring some many times are overdone in DD style, we have many stupid scenes too, We have added characters like Rishi and Lilette Dubey's roles, the film does make you laugh but comparing it to the original is like comparing David Dhawan to Basu Chaterjee and Hrishikesh MukherjeeDirection is okay Music is good, The hit song Har ek Friend is good while Dhiskyaon is funny rest are okayAli Zafar tries hard to underplay and is okay, Taapsee annoys with her Dumb hai boss repetitively, Divyendru is fab, last seen in Pyaar Ka Punchnama he proves he has talent, Siddharth tends to overact but does well in some scenes Anupam Kher does his usual hamming, Bharti Achrekar is okay, Rishi Kapoor is hilarious though his role is stupid, Lilette Dubey is tyepcast, rest are okay

Although the choice of the characters was at par with the performance especially from Jai & Omi, I still think the movie to be a good entertainer for the least. Needless to mention, Ali Zafar as usual was adorable. Worked on this momentum and timing a lot. The drop of experience to youngsters as Anupam Kher is a good idea. He did a superb job playing a double Sim. Hilarious. Jai & Omi and their famous 2 pathetic liners will definitely hit your laughter nerve at least once if not all the time. At times the movie got dull, thanks to poor direction and low value script, but despite all this performances were acceptable. No way can be compared with other comedy flicks but yeah for one time watch it may be a good idea.

I just saw this movie on Karachi, Pakistan. It seems very good movie for me. There was a lot of comedy and chill. The film stars Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Taapsee Pannu and Divyendu Sharma did a very good job on this movie. I would say It was just awesome movie in 2013. As, we all know about Mr. Ali Zafar. He is a good actor and also a very good singer. I liked Sonu song "Har Ek Friend Kamina Hota Hai" :) Wonderful song I would say. I would also say Thanks to Sir David Dhawan. He really did a fabulous job. I will give you 10 ratings to this awesome movie. Actually, This is a story of three good friends Siddharth Kashyap , Jai and Omkar alias Omi and how two of them really try to create a wedge between the third friend and his girlfriend. I would suggest you all please see this movie with your family Its really a family movie.
