Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

Lost script, refreshing dialogs and plenty of melodrama, typical Yash Raj, Kill Dil had everything that a bollywood masala movie must have except for the X-Factor of the selective stars, maybe the aura of the legends that makes inconsequentially ordinary films work like charm. Songs were interesting, but you don't go watching films to listen to songs do you, we do not anymore live in the 60s and 70s Ali Zafar remains in a freeze on his Pakistani TV Series style of acting and a monotonous and now quite boring dialog delivery, he seems to be a fish out of the water with every passing film. Hasn't Ranveer Singh been playing the same typical roles in last 3-4 movies of his? He is as monotonous as Ali Zafar, in everything including his limited skill- sets in acting. Parineeti Chopra rules this film, though her disinclination for this project in evident in her performance. And last but not the least Govinda, he manages to inspire almost nothing trying to play Grey shades, he summoned awe in Shikari, somewhat, this character though was clueless and confused. Director is the one to be blamed, but hey its a Yash Raj films, you must not expect direction as such. The film lost me with its pace, continuity and story-line, not to mention the cinematography was as pathetic. Characters were not properly designed thus lousy portrayed. Ali Zafar's was the aimless most in the lot.

Frankly speaking, I went to watch this film only for Govinda as I wanted to watch him in a new avatar after many years. The trailers looked good so I had expectations from it, but what turned out was a complete mess of a movie. Govinda, undoubtedly the most powerful actor of the film was made to sit on a rooftop for most parts of the film by the director and growl orders to his henchmen played by Ranveer and Ali Zafar and crack lame jokes with them. While he may have given his full effort to make himself look menacing as Bhaiyaji, the director Shaad Ali wasted it by his poor direction. The director has tried to give the movie a 'Tarantino movie' feel but has given no attention to the story which is a very poorly written one. I am not a fan of Ranveer Singh, but his performance in this movie is good and has given it much needed energy. Parineeti Chopra is wasted in a role of a social worker with only one thing to do, that is party hard and drink harder. Ali Zafar mostly keeps quiet throughout which is a good thing. Except for the title track no other song is great which starts playing on after every 10-15 minutes. I gave Kill Dil 4 stars because of 1.Govinda, 2.Ranveer's effort, 3.the title track, 4.Gulzar's lyrics. Otherwise it's boring and lazy.

I'm surprised by the many average reviews this film is getting, in part because: 1. although not strictly a comedy, it's funnier than many other Bollywood films this year 2. has at least three killer music tracks 3. all four leads more than deliver in their respective roles 4. it features the return of Govinda (and it's a great part) 5. Ali Zafar has finally proved (as he did in Tere Bin Laden before being typecast) that there's more to him that formulaic rom-coms 6. it doesn't rely on endless and pointless stunts to form the narrative as many recent blockbusters haveSure it's not perfect, the story has a familiarity to it (but what film doesn't these days?) and there are a couple of cringe-worthy moments; but I'd rather watch Kill Dil over again than many of the other half-baked 'blockbuster' efforts clocking up the rupee signs over the last 12 months.Do yourself a favour, ignore the reviews and go check it out for yourself- you might be pleasantly surprised.

The only saving grace in the movie was Govinda, but he was just wasted in the movie. No clue why did he choose to be in the movie (apart from the money part). He was suppose to play a dark character, but it seems the writers and director didn't did their homework properly, and wasted an actor like Govinda, whose sheer presence is just needed to give a desired push upwards. The songs were coming as if there is nothing else to show in the movie. Every 15-20 mins there is a song... Pari, Ali and Ranveer played their part nicely. When would Indian film makers stop taking us for ride and will make some meaningful cinema. Please avoid the movie, if you guys can.
