Better Late Then Never
A different way of telling a story
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Before watching the movie, I read some reviews on IMDB (who were mostly bad) and decided to watch the trailer. It was cool, it had a 'fun' vibe, so I gave it a chance. The movie was bad though. A bit too much 'American horror movie" (sex, teens, drinking, someone who doesn't want to go, but does because of peer pressure,...), an irritating clumsy and dumb deputy, fake looking wounds (a big, new scar in the face that doesn't bleed a drip?), etc.The 6 crazies were quite cool and really scary, but that's about all of it.
Featuring legendary actors Robert Englund, Clint Howard, Jere Burns, and Courtney Gaines. FX Guru, Robert Kurtzman, is the producer of the special effects and if he's involved in any horror project, you know you're in for one hell of a ride. Cheerfully violent, funny, and brilliant. So much goodness of gore and bodies are everywhere. I felt really cozy and comfy while watching it. My favorite character is Dollface, played by Candice De Visser. She's just extremely great with her craziness and loveliness. Amazing job by the entire cast and crew. Salute to everyone for this horror extravaganza!!!
This is a fun movie to watch. It has a Rob Zombie kind of feel for me too. Jere Burns is outstanding as Mental Manny and I can defiantly say that Candice De Visser steals the show as Dollface. Great over the top gore with some descend effects. Don't try to dissect the what and why's in this movie because you'll just give yourself a headache. Sit back and enjoy.
What a fun film! Loads of blood and guts, terrible acting (in the best possible way!) and you even get to see a naked breast(!!) I think a lot of people are going to miss the point of this movie - it's one big homage to the old slasher/80's teen horror genre. There are so many in-jokes and references to other films...in fact (I think) this is a remake of a film from 1981! I was expecting a low-budget but entertaining little movie, but never did I think it would be such a great roller-coaster ride of ripped heads and gruesome gore , all served up in almost comic-book style.The practical make-up FX are great, if a little OTT (more 80's influence), the lighting is brilliant and the sets are really clever (very realistic fun-house type set up). I review loads of movies in my Facebook group "Jaded Horror Hound" so I am not easily impressed, but I was really entertained and amused by this film. If you like your horror with a twist of camp and a dash of retro, this is the film for you!
