The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

A world where 2011's The Thing reboot exists is arguably a worse world than one where its titular monster is real and eating us all. Old film franchises brought back from the dead to make a quick buck almost never end well. To this day the only one that lived up to its original glory was Mad Max Fury Road. The Crazies' 37 year revival wasn't as amazing as Mad Max Fury Road, but at least it wasn't The Thing, or Terminator Genysis; and this is partially because Romero was actually involved in its creation. Sure he wasn't a director, but since most horror remakes are done without any real talk with the original director, it's a blessing here. The film concept isn't quite a zombie concept, but the film sure as hell acts like one. Its score is decent, cinematography is nice, the acting and script are well done even if they take a bit of liberties with reality. Overall it's a nice film to see.

I always do my best to go into a film with an open mind and leave most preconceived baggage out of the experience, but The Crazies had so much that had me sharpening my knives to eviscerate it. Directed by a nepotism flyweight, who's daddy used to run Disney and directed one of the biggest flops of the decade - a remake of a less than stellar George Romero film - a title that just sounds silly on a slick studio production and sounds designed for cheap exploitation - a cast capable of good work, but with careers of varying quality control. So it was a complete surprise that The Crazies is a damn fine horror film. It's well directed, acted and has a mounting sense of dread, as well as some humor. There's no fat on this film and the mayhem begins from the first scene. The surveillance effects during the first 15 minutes or so are unnecessary and a crazed man terrorizing his family before setting the house on fire, has plenty of familiar horror tropes that you've seen a thousand times - but those are minor complaints. Most of what unfolds plays out well, even with a few bumps along the way - a visit back to our two leads home where a hostage situation takes place should have been cut. There are some great set pieces, especially one involving some serious misuse of a pitchfork. The Crazies delivers the goods.

Title: The Crazies Condensed Storyline: Remake of the 1973 movie of the same title. A small town in Iowa has their water supply infected with a biological toxin which causes everyone to go insane. Notable Acting: The focus sits more on the three main protagonists of David, Judy and Russell than the fact of zombies, but this movie is similar to the TV show 'The Walking Dead' as the movie is more about what the people do when they are faced with odds of this kind compared to just focusing on the zombies. Noticeable Camera work:Graphics: The CGI nuclear explosion was nicely done, being the only piece of CGI in the movie. Incorrect Science: The sheriff pulls a new Zippo lighter from a box on display, he lights it first time. Zippo lighters are stored without lighter fluid for safety reasons. Drinking water isn't used for watering crops as drinking water is too 'soft' for plants. The light from the nuclear blast would have blinded the survivors as they tried to look at it, this is why scientists wear blackout goggles to protect their eyes while they are looking at nuclear explosions. Nuclear explosions cause inverted windstorms as the air rushes to the explosion site to fill the vacuum created by the super heat air rising. The EMP created by the blast would fry all electronics near it, causing the truck's headlights to stop working Overall Feel: I am generally not all too much of a zombie movie fan, but this is one of those movies which I like because it shows how far people will go to survive, this movie also has a similar vibe to '28 Days Later' showing how the Military have responded to this outbreak as well. I enjoyed the characters in this movie and I enjoyed the plot. There isn't much I downgrade this movie for, apart from not having all too many creative angles and have a few pieces of incorrect science. It is a good horror thriller movie, but there isn't too much thriller aspect to it as I do not fear for the safety of David or the main characters, as I know they are going to make it out alive, but in saying this I was surprised to see Russell get killed towards the end, but I was expecting it at the same time as he was too much of a loose cannon.

I've had the HD version for years now, but I had not watched it until now, because I got the Full HD version, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the movie was. The movie is very to the point and unlike most other horror movies it doesn't take 45 minutes for the "horror" to begin, although as the story unfolds it becomes more and more thrilling. It has some really exciting sequences that would make you hold your breath for a while until you feel some sort of pain in your chest (for not breathing properly for at least 30 minutes!) The acting is superb, the actors and actresses are all likable and pretty / handsome, and their actions are logical, not the stupid kind you see in most other horror movies, which make you think the characters deserve to die because of their stupidity. When the characters are in danger you can feel it and you want them to survive! The ending was fantastic as well, predictable, but good nonetheless. This is one of the best thrillers I've seen in a long time and I strongly recommend it to all horror movie fans.
