It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

The film starts with Al Pacino playing a veteran cop Detective Archer on the verge of retirement. Pacino who would had been 77 years old when the film was released he looks like the grandfather of a veteran cop who is on the verge of retirement despite his weird dark hair! The action moves a year after Detective Archer had a prang with an unidentified car to Detective Ruiney (Karl Urban) who is being shadowed by an ace reporter Christi Davies (Brittany Snow.) They come across a horrific crime scene of a woman hanging with a letter carved on her. The killer is calling out to Ruiney and the now retired Detective Archer by playing a game of hangman as other bodies and letters turn up.Hangman is a bizarre low rent Seven knock off where the serial killer's method and madness is just nonsense. Stolen blood from a priest, one victim being someone who enjoys S&M, a speeding train heading for a hanging man who is still alive, a pig head, a detective in a wheelchair on the verge of a nervous breakdown. With all the insanity and killings, only two detectives and a journalist are on the case.Hangman is a plodding, laborious film that is ridiculous. It can be summed up by a laughably bad chase scene of a man on a motorbike who then just stands there on the road as the chasing trio are speeding for him when something leftfield happens. To top it all, what is Pacino doing with that silly southern accent?

Al Pacino was himself, no airs, no fake "accent"... the storyline was typical for a serial killer, but the acting was spot on and it kept our interest. Whoever said Al Pacino was tired, must have been tired watching the movie.

Hangman: Directed by Johnny Martin and written by Michael Caissie and Charles HuttingerA serial killer enacting a live version of the kids game hangman and an overacting delirious and tired Al Pacino barely functioning in this dry, dull generic thriller. The whole hangman being a hook caught my attention mainly because it sounds like a parody of serial killer movies from the 90s. This aspect of the movie is handled gruesomely and pretty well. It is mostly inconsequential to the story as a whole. There is no reason for the killer to engage in this. It has no special meaning to the detectives or the killer. This is also played straight as can be. It needed that little bit of levity to take the piss out of the situation. The dialogue follows the standard cop movie. The detectives have a tragic backstory and even the reporter has a horrible backstory each one delivered with the plop of an anvil. It has an incredibly low score on Rotten Tomatoes and it was directed by the same person responsible for the god awful Vengeance A Love Story. This movie is a million times better than that disgusting movie. It's merely bland and cliche. Skip this one too. I give this one a D.

Ugh. where do i start? pretty average serial killer movie, where the killer leads the detectives from murder to murder with really obtuse clues that somehow are perfect every 24 hours. pacino acts the same way he does in every single fuggin movie he's ever been in. it barely kept my interest, really. i'd skip this one if you like thrillers. there are certainly much better titles out there to waste your 90 minutes of life on.
