Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

After the Enormous Financial Success of the Ridiculous 11th Bond, "Moonraker" (1979), the Producers must be Given Credit for Returning Bond from Orbit. But the Movie is a Mixed Bag. The Numerous Chase Sequences have Gags Galore and the Bill Conti Musical Score is Unfitting and Cringe Inducing as it Prompts Scenes with a Disco Beat and almost Destroys any Thrills that Unfold.Roger Moore's Smirk and Eyebrow Arching are Toned Down a bit and that Helps and the Plot is Terra Firma Involving Spy Agencies and the Search for a Missing, could Threaten World Peace, Device and Mistaken Identities. It's Hit and Miss as the Silly First Act Involving a Manical Comic-Book Laugh from a Wheelchaired Blofeld and whose Idea was it to Show Sheena Easton's Face throughout the Title Sequence Completely Destroying the Ethereal Imagery that had Become Iconic Bond for 11 Movies. It could Make the List as one of the Biggest Missteps in Franchise History. A Franchise that Holds the Record for the Longest Continuous Ever.Overall, there are other Cringes that could be Pointed to as Unacceptable, one For Example is the Unneeded Byplay between Bond and the Underage Teenager. But the Movie's other Bond Girls are Multi-Dimensional Figures with Agendas and Respectfully Fulfill the "Character" and here are More Serious than Ever. The Good does Outweigh the Bad as Bond Films Go and this is Considered by many as the Best Roger Moore, but is Nowhere Near the Best Bond Film that, as Stated Earlier, is Still Going Strong.Long Live James Bond, Your Film History is Plentiful, but Inconsistent. This one has Plenty of the Expected and Needed Experience that Fans Demand, but the Movie is Inconsistent.

First, the lead has to have some height, stature. The Greek goddess was as good as a women gets. This is why the franchise suffered trying to adapt to more modern low end times for new audiences. For the year it was really great and watch every 1-2 two years. Classy and excellent manners will always rule. No tattoo's needed. Always looking forward to proper direction in this franchise so it continues and really should continue. The modern day updates should be of the technical content not the human content that always made the series fly so high. The series is an learning experience for more common audience to strive higher in their lives. Not to bring the franchise down to that level. From the most interesting man in the world.

I like this film a lot. I this is the best Moore bond. It goods back to the grittier bonds of old. I would give this 10 for 10 but the skating parts drag it down a bit. Although it is nice to see Lynn Holly Johnson. The villain is very subtle but still dangerous. There are no real gadgets per se which is nice for a change. I really enjoy seeing Sheena Easton in the title song part. I think this is the only time you actually see the person singing the title song. I like watching Topol interacting bond. They don't know if they should trust each other. When I watch this bond I eat pistachios by the bowl full. My favorite scene is at the end where bond climbs the mountain. It is exciting. Also, bond takes the bad guys with limited men and simple weapons.

Definitely the best James Bond movie of J.B Mk. III - The Roger Moore Era - I think. Many Bond-fans I think applies with me, not every other one, of course.. I've read biographies from crew and cast - and other logs from the crossover between the 70's and the 80's - that the hubris and anticlimax that followed a movie called Moonraker caused some hang-over in the production team. There was, at the time, no plans of topping that expensive "space-flick". Get back to earth, bring back some of the good old-fashioned spy story.John Glen's debut in the director's seat (had been assistant/2nd unit for several times) was a terrific start to the 80's. The whole movie throughout is impregnated by a sense of re-start, and a "think things over"-feeling. Discussions of inviting Steven Spielberg to direct had been around, so was a thought of giving Timothy Dalton his debut as 007. Many rumors circulated at the time of giving this movie its blueprints.....OK, Roger Moore already showed some signs of ageing here, 53 years old. (Some age for a supposed to be fit and athletic MI6 agent.....) But, the character was already well worked in, the audience had learned to love the charming gentleman, who jumped in and out of hard trials. (With some hindsight, maybe this movie should have been an honorable farewell for Roger, a good-bye in flying colors, handing over the baton to, let's say Dalton.) But they played it safe for another while...The movie itself has aged well. Feels quite modern some 35 years later. Great stunts as the thrilling opening chopper scene, and the famous Citroën 2CV car chase. To complete the fresh and innovative theme song during the pre-credits, Maurice Binder cuts in performer for the first time, shown in figure. Female artist Sheena Easton completes her lovely voice with an appearance on screen, to the delight of the male audience. An airy, atmospheric tune with just the right touch for kicking off the 80's. The ATAC head story, and the "avenge the Havelock's"-story, matches each other well. Carole Bouquet's plays a strong, independent and sensitive woman. Not just being James Bond's amusement, as many of them in 007 past. I also think that the audience welcomed a more human villain, rather than a psychotic billionaire who's planning to destroy the world. Julian Glover performs well, and professionally cushioned. In my opinion, it's one of the very best compounded and successfully collected James Bond Movies. 9 out of 10.
