Risking his life, Luke ventures to Rome to visit Paul -- the apostle who's bound in chains and held captive in Nero's darkest and bleakest prison cell. Haunted by the shadows of his past misdeeds, Paul wonders if he's been forgotten as he awaits his grisly execution. Before Paul's death, Luke resolves to write another book that details the birth of what will come to be known as the church.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

This was a movie that really makes you think about your faith and what you'd be willing to do for it. Us folks living in the United States are very lucky given what our founding fathers did and our freedom of religion. When you compare being a Christian here...or in a Muslim....totalitarian regime....or what early Christians went thru for jus believing in Jesus...well we are lucky. I clearly need to get back in the Bible...when you are a child you don't necessarily learn all the stories about how the apostles came to be...this movie opens up a door and has let me know I need to study and be thankful...every day.

The movie was good and I liked it, as others said, it's a human based story and you are not just watching a christian movie. but the movie didn't show anything about Paul. because there is so many things wrong about this person. all you know that Paul was the first one who said Jesus is son of God and before him no one ever told that. Paul made many changes in Christianity that it was more on Jews will till Jesus will. those who read the history without prejudice name Paul, Paul the Lier. again I say, this movie did not show anything about lies Paul said and wrong changes he made in Christianity.

I stretched my generosity and gave this two stars for getting some of the names right. I know Caviezel thought this would be the biggest Bible movie ever, but I don't consider embellishment to qualify such hope. Did Paul's ministry need such frippery?Luke, mentioned maybe four times in Scripture, was without the details invented for this movie. Did no one bother reading the Bible prior to this production? Did anyone protest taking such liberties, yet have the audacity to call this a Bible movie? It's a fanciful tale of a few heroic names from Scripture, but we know little of Luke, Priscilla, Aquila, other than they were staunch supporters of Paul's Christ-centered ministry, and traveling companions. I've watched about 25 biblically based movies, and while none have earned my revulsion quite like Jeremy Sisto's portrayal of Jesus, few are excellent. This one falls far short of what was probably the expectation of Gibson. I can even take some adornments of Bible records, but to base an entire movie on them isn't acceptable. We have no greater record of an Apostle than Paul's. Gibson's movie proves that adornments can't enhance our historical records from the Bible.

The story covers Paul going from the most infamous persecutor of Christians to Jesus Christ's most influential apostle. Paul, Apostle of Christ seemed like an interesting film to be released on 2018 plus it marks the return of Jim Caviezel (a very talented actor) back in faith based films since the 2004 'Passion of the Christ' the Mel Gibson film that divided audiences and critics alike. Unfortunate tho this new faith based film is missing a few important elements like an interesting story to be told and a good script in general and despite the solid perfomances which were good for the most part? It didn't showcase anything more to it except to waste the time of it's viewers and it's actors. (5.0/10)
