If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

One of the worst "films" I have ever had the unfortunate displeasure of viewing. The acting was awful, the story was incredulous, and I'm glad that I watched it as a free rental.I'll not go into detail, because this movie doesn't deserve it, but what was the writer THINKING when he created it? How could the entire staff go through with this without someone saying, "Hey. . .you know, this movie really sucks." Why, WHY were they called the stick up kids when not one of them is under 30? Why do they have Lexuses, Benzes, and other luxuries but they can't help their own team member with a debt problem? . . .and, probably one of the biggest flaws with this movie, WHO WOULDN'T SHOP AT A STORE THAT HAD ALL THE ITEMS OFF AT 75%?!!! Thank you The Stick Up Kids for supplying us with two-hours of bad acting, bad music, bad storytelling, but hilarity beyond anything we've seen in years! So. . .for that I will say that The Stick Up Kids is the greatest comedy of 2011!

In reading the reviews, I did not see anyone comment on this movie's most important aspect...heritage/pedigree. The Muurs, Moors, however you wish to spell our name and who we really are...are coming to light. This information is extremely hard for most of us to awaken and realize they are talking about us. When you look at the titles that we have been called all these years (black, Negro, African-American - those not recognized as "People"); and when you realize why most of us don't own any land...you will see that it is because we do not know who we are and how to stake our claim. We MUST dedicate a little time to the references made in most movies, as they're always trying to tell you something. However, this movie drops info like a B52 at war. It's saying a lot about YOU, but most can't hear because they don't know how to listen. Please view this movie more, then search the internet for more information about your heritage...but most importantly, ask your own great-grandparents...or grand parents.

I recently had the opportunity to watch the film "The Stick Up Kids" and as far as indie flicks go, I'll give it an 8. I really liked this film and would have given it a 9 but there are a few corny scenes that threw me off guard. Otherwise, the storyline and cast is pretty impressive for an indie flick. The rivalry between the born and raised Harlemites and the wicked Slumlord is interesting and one of my favorite themes throughout the movie. The music selections are dope too and put a great finishing touch on the film. Some of the selections remind me of Johnny Pate "Shaft in Africa" or of Bobby Womack's "Across 110th St". Good work with this one!

This film really impressed me! I thought this would be just another NYC based crime thriller but they actually tackle some real deal issues that New Yorkers are experiencing in several of the newly gentrified neighborhoods (Harlem, Williamsburg, Ft. Greene, Bed-Stuy). This movie also taught me some stuff I did not know about New York City's first settlers (hint: it was not the Dutch). Overall the cast if pretty solid. Bryce Wilson and Mel Jackson are stand outs, they did an excellent job in this one! Aside from some odd and corny scenes this DVD is pretty good all the way through. I'd recommend for a night with the fellas, kicking back and playing dice!
