if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

...it still manages to shock! I just re-watched this film as it's been nearly 8 years or so since I last saw it. Yes, it's exploitational but it also has moments of pure genius! Okay, maybe not genius but it's not a film to be written of as pure exploitation so easily. Reading the other reviews that have gone, I realise that maybe I am the only one who had forgotten about the 'dirty' shower scene (which again left me wincing like the first time). The scene that stuck with me is the ending as it is so un-'Hollywood'. No victim who had suffered so much would be allowed to die like that in a Western film...at least, none spring to mind. Originally, I did laugh at this scene myself but I wonder if it was more out of shock and just being overwhelmed by the melodrama of it all. And that is the word that has been missing from all the reviews so far, melodrama! I think it's the OTT nature of the drama that sets this apart from other 'nasty' movies. The acting seems to be pretty good (tho' my subbed version is ropey too XD ) but I say this because when you look at, say, 'Mermaid in a Manhole' even the language barrier doesn't hide the poor acting! Final point...about the music. I noticed one user complaining about it but personally I loved the 80s electronica vibe to it. Reminded me of all the Italian exploits TBH. I will agree with another user's comments tho'...this is not a date movie unless you're dating some sick little monkey! :D

Okay, in the first 6 minutes, we have a necro rape and a mother/son commit suicide/homicide. Not a bad start, eh? Anyhow, this story involves a brutal rapist/killer who has a "thing" for red. While he's not out cavorting, he enjoys running a home for some mentally retarded kids as a true Clark Kent kind of guy. I say that in no small fashion since his nighttime alter ego throws people around like he's Superman. Things turn around sharply when he decides to have a little "hard in a 'tard" that is a resident in his happy home. Man, if I ran his place, I'd have all the girls dress in red. A courtroom drama ensues with expected results. Vengeance then becomes the name of the game and a grisly, fun time it is.This film has some "roughiness", a bit of gore and some pretty decent acting (especially when the bespectacled primary lets us see his alter ego while playing "Clark"). It is a single "X" affair, but fairly graphic all the same (with decent makeup effects to go along). Definitely recommended stuff.Charlie.

Red to Kill is about a mentally retarded girl who is brought into a home for the handicapped after her father dies in a car crash. She's welcomed with open arms by all the residents and staff. Well, to add some spice to the story one of the staff is a psycho killer who goes absolutely nuts when he sees the color red....or whenever he takes off his glasses. Will the mentally challenged girl wear the color red? Find out in Red to Kill. Now I've seen four Cat 3 flicks, Ricky O, Untold Story, Ebola Syndrome and now this, and each one doesn't disappoint. The dude who plays the maniac does an awesome job. I'm not sure if I've seen a crazier portrayal of a psychopath ever before....he was definitely the best part of the film. If you're looking for a unique, crazy flick, Red to Kill definitely fits the bill. 8.5 outta 10

This one is a little better than the average rape-movie from Hong Kong. The atmosphere in the movie is breathtaking, thanks to Ng, who delivers one of the best and most intense portrays of a sick rapist i have ever seen!!! The atmosphere makes this movie, so the occasional gore seem pointless. There is a lot of bad acting though...
