That was an excellent one.
good back-story, and good acting
A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
I watched this one in a theatrical presentation today. Very impressive. It starts with a big understatement, cropped image frame with only a narrator from the center channel. But then the picture pulls to the full width of the screen, and the stereo sound kicks in with Wagner's fanfare. The magnetic sound mix sounds great even today. Although the use of the surround channel is very limited, it fully kicks in during the climactic wedding scene with female and male choirs. If you ever have the opportunity to watch it, please do. This is one of those gems you never knew existed.
