One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

I like B-grade sci-fi, but this one is even below my standards. I can't think of anything good to say about it but this - if you can find the MST3K production you'll have a great time. The movie is terrible, but the terribleness can't be fully appreciated until you see Joel and the Robots give their inimitable critique. They nail some rip-snorters out of this one. Sadly, all I have is a VHS version recorded from TV that I ripped onto a DVD (yuck) and I've never found it on any of their compilations. It's disappointing because along with "It Conquered the World" it's my MST3K guilty-pleasure favorite. As far as the stand-alone movie, forget about it - unless you like really bad directing, acting and unlikable characters.

The silvery aliens mostly resemble a certain tire company trademark. Is it Unaroyal? John Ashley appears along with some Beach Party music from his 1964 film, sometimes completely in the wrong mood for a scene. The air force men want to keep the aliens a secret, but their spy monitors only watch the car windows at make-out point. It was funny in all the wrong places. A crawling hand resembled a large toad, really. But most of all, where were the eye creatures? The posters and ads are filled with giant eyes nowhere to be seen in the movie. I suppose they needed 3D glasses or magic goggles that might be able to spot the "eye creatures" this film was supposed to be about so that anyone at all would want to go see it.

Poor John Ashley who wished that he could have gotten all the parts that Fabian did with people like John Wayne, James Stewart, and Bing Crosby. Especially since John Wayne discovered him. I think he suffered because he came over the same way Fabian did and looked a bit like him. Instead Ashley got relegated to stuff like this for the most part, never getting into an A film or even a B film in a part where one would notice.Sad, but this was what he reduced to, The Eye Creatures. The alleged plot of this film has the Air Force keeping a lid on a UFO landing and Ashley and his girl friend trying to convince the locals that one has and their are some nasty creatures out there with big eyes wandering around. It all works out in the end and you wouldn't believe what it takes to kill these space creatures. Hint is that they're done in at the local passion pit.Poor Ashley as the only name of some note in the cast, he did appear in some of the worst stinkers around.

I've only seen the MST3K version, but never by itself. This is a remake of INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN,which is a lot better and even stars a young Frank Gorshin. If you notice that towards the end that some of the eye creatures don't have all of their costume on.Just the headpiece and that's it.Guess they didn't have the budget to make more, but for goodness sake, you can see it plain as day or night,if you're referring to this movie.I don't think the director has ever made a good movie and I've seen a couple more he did,but that's it.John Ashley looks embarrassed being in this movie and I don't blame him.He probably did it for the money,if it was that much anyway.See it for the mistakes or just watch the MST3K version instead.Either way, you're in for a treat! Bad movie? You bet!
