Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

A family in fear of the man of the house, gangsters, lesbian sex, a pregnant girl and pretty soon, vampires - are all presented to the viewer in quick succession, interrupted by occasional fast-track shots of nudity, blood and gore. The acting is varied, the characters are thinly sketched - we realise the dysfunctional family have a vampire at their head - but there are so many people vying for attention, we're not sure who is who. Are we? Not to worry, however: I don't think clarity is the intention here. This seems to be deliberately made to fit the so-bad-it's-good mould. Clearly, the budget is clearly very low. Director Desi Scarpone keeps things moving quickly, and there are moments of tension. And if you can see through the cheapness of it all, there is occasional gory enjoyment to be had once the vampires are unleashed. But it isn't really well made enough to be the joyous blood spattered free-for-all it would like to be.

This is an unusual movie to say the least. We'll start with the bad: the acting's pretty spotty, the plot mostly incoherent, the film stock sort of cheap looking. The editing, especially, is bad.But there's a lot going on here, and some of it calls into question the border between bad film and high art. Have you ever had an incoherent nightmare? One which followed no plot, but which seemed to telegraph events, characters, and ideas to you? Parts of this film can be summed up as such: "I was in my house with my family, and for some reason we were celebrating a birthday. But there was a blackout, and then when my dad showed up, he was a acting strange. Then there were these gangsters..." And throughout there is a lingering since of doom, no escape from the vampires/zombies.It's hard to say how intentionally the director is reaching beyond purely escapism. But I think 'Dark Town', although overall not a success, is better horror than 'Urban Legend', 'I Know What You Did...', 'Wrong Turn' or any other number of teen slashers, if more for the ideas than for the execution.

blah blah blah, i know-- it has some flaws. but i enjoyed watching it. the characters surprised me. it surprised me me that the little sister was holding the bank for the drug dealer. she looked so innocent. the gangsters all seemed real. i still want to know what happened with the baby.it is good to see a vampire movie that doesn't glamorize the condition for a change. i actually screamed once when i watched this. the acting is a little uneven, but the movie is fast paced. this is a very good 'bad' movie. I would recommend it to anyone who's sick of the over blown romanticized angst ridden vampire flicks. i know i'm bored with the same old same old. this is not a family film at all. maybe if some of it's excesses were necessary to the plot, nah not even then. can you imagine this movie if someone in Hollywood with a big budget got a hold of it, they would ruin it.

Lesbian vampires and the background extras from Boyz in the Hood get together for this Troma-esquire debacle. Added to the list of worst vampire movies ever, along with Dracula 3000 and Bram Stoker's Way of the Vampire. The storyline is pretty disjointed, but I guess the basic premise is that there's a bunch of these gangstas who stumble into a - wait for it - drug deal gone wrong! The gangstas (who all hold their guns sideways like the Gangstas they are) escape to the Club and start talking about how there's this white chick who lives nearby who keeps all kinds of drug money in her bedroom. Being OG, Gangstas go to rob her. Only they didn't plan on stepping right into the middle of a Vampire Surprise Birthday Party! Turns out White Girl's dad is vampire, and it's his birthday. By the time the Gangstas show up, Vampire Dad has already infected like everybody else in the family. The family is all dysfunctional and stuff, which I guess means that there's an older sister who's a lesbian. The dysfunctional family vampires infect the gangstas. It turns into an All- Vampire ho-down. The only thing that's missing is the Stevie Wonder/Paul McCartney soundtrack. Ebony and ivory sucking in perfect harmony. In the end, they all stand in front of the skylight and get turned into ash. I don't know what else to say about this thing, and to be honest, I don't want to waste any more of my time or yours talking about it.
