The storm-swept and depopulated town of Leffert’s Corners has been terrorized for decades by grotesque creatures that breed in the depths beneath the local cemetery. A group of townspeople have hatched a last-ditch plan to destroy the ghoul-infested graveyard, but their mission is interrupted by the arrival of a band of violent thieves intent on retrieving money hidden in one of the graves.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

...Wait until you see this movie. At least the Rutger Hauer version of this movie called "Bleeders", from 1997, was still at parts entertaining and watchable. This is a really poorly made movie. You just know that everyone involved with this movie is never going to make it in the world of movies. This includes both main cast and crew. It features some extremely bad dubbing and sound effects. Especially listen in the beginning of the movie when the woman hits the 'monster' with a gun. It sounds like a cartoon! This unfortunately is not the only example. Also the editing is really off and the movie uses too often silly slow-motion sequences, that are just nothing more than laughable. This obviously was a cheap movie to make. The monsters are not too bad looking and it deserved to be in a better movie. The story is extremely bad and simple written, as if they put no real effort into it. It's very silly and just never seems to get of the ground. The movie also never becomes tense or scary to watch, although its fairly good with its gore. Also the actors didn't made the movie any better. It's not just their fault, since their characters are also extremely flat and boring in the story. Still it has Jefffrey Combs and Vincent Schiavelli in it, so there are some redeeming qualities.I see no point into why anyone should ever watch this movie.2/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/

This is just awful. It's almost as if the writer had heard particulars of several Lovecraft stories, but didn't read them and didn't understand the basic concepts of his particular type of horror. While this one isn't a meandering mess of plot holes, such as Dagon is, the Lovecraftian elements feel like they've been welded onto a preexisting plot that has absolutely nothing to do with it.Full Moon has a number of Lovecraft adaptations that are fun, if not exactly true to either the story or atmosphere of the originals. This, unfortunately, isn't one of them. Skip this one and watch Reanimator again. Or even Castle Freak. Both of which have at least something of a Lovecraftian feel to them.

Ex-convict Blake Bailey goes to the small burg of Laffert's Corner, Massachusetts to unearth a corpse in the local cemetery that's stuffed with several million dollars. A heinous trio of nasty cooks led by smooth British baddie Jon Finch (Jerry Cornelius in the fabulously flip sci-fi black comedy blast "The Final Programme") also materialize at the sleepy armpit podunk, eager to get their greedy, grubby, grasping paws on the hot loot. The only glitch: the hamlet's currently being besieged by a ghoulish gaggle of nocturnal subterranean cannibalistic zombies with wan complexions, egg-white eyes, longish pale hair, long black claws, gaunt skeletal faces, a mouthful of yellow fangs, and a decidedly inhospitable disposition. It's up to the hoodlums and a handful of fear-stricken beleaguered townspeople to make a stand against the lethal creatures or else they will all get devoured by the evil albino undead.Writer/director C. Courtney ("Trancers III: Death Lives") Joyner, loosely adapting an H.P. Lovecraft story, does a real deft, fluent and commendable job with crafting a handy dandy blend of horror and crime thriller elements: the swift pacing, a reasonably enthralling and intricate story, the pretty high suspense factor, and a few punchy and genuinely stirring action sequences all add up to make for one really fun little fright flick. Moreover, the bang-up cast contribute uniformly up-to-snuff performances, with especially stand-out turns by the ever-fine Finch (who makes for an exquisitely hateful heavy), Lovecraft movie perennial Jeffrey ("From Beyond," "Necronomicon") Combs as a boozy, bearded, chain-smoking physician, lovely, buxom "Hellraiser" series heroine Ashley Laurence as a resourceful, two-fisted take-charge survivalist, Mike Todd as the head fiend, Paul ("Day of the Animals," "The Manitou") Mantee as a virtuous, selfless priest, and, in a splendidly slimy small role, the always sublimely creepy Vincent Schiavelli as a wormy, untrustworthy mortician. Although by no means a classic, "Lurking Fear" nonetheless rates well as a solid, thrilling and worthwhile horror item.

I am always up for a "bad" horror flick. It is generally entertaining, what with pointing out inconsistencies and laughing at the bad monster effects. However, I was not laughing when I saw "Lurking Fear." This was easily the worst "bad" horror movie I've ever seen! The inconsistencies were atrocious, the effects particularly poorly done, and the foley... don't even get me started! As far as Full Moon movies go, this one is a particularly bad example. I have only one "lurking" question remaining... What happened to the baby?
