The movie really just wants to entertain people.

I started watching this movie and quit after it had a T-Rex dinosaur in along with a giant squid.otocupus in it. This is a Sherlock Holmes movie. How moronic is it to have these make believe creatures in this type of movie / story! I just lost interest and wanted to warn others it not worth your time.

The Aslyum is a movie company known for making cheap knockoffs of various popular films using bad special effects. Probably the only reason I didn't give this a lower rating is because it didn't focus that much on the cheap effects. This is still a pretty stupid film. It was made right after the popular Robert Downey Jr. film. I don't quite remember that movie that well, but it's easy to tell this is a ripoff. They couldn't even make something original with a public domain character?The movie features a sea monster, a dinosaur, and a robot dragon. Yeah, exactly what you'd expect to see in a Sherlock Holmes movie, right? The villain turns out to be Sherlock's brother and Sherlock's real first name is Robert or something. It's as ridiculous as it sounds. We get cheap and hammy performances from everyone. Sherlock probably never had it so bad. *1/2

well i have seen some junk and some bad b movies and this does rank with the worst.who the hell chose ben syder as sherlock holmes .as a fan of jeremy brett ,who i still believe was the best ,ben syder made me want to hurl.awful accent ,weak,he spoiled the film.conan doyle portrayed holmes as fearless ,tall ,eccentric,and a genius ,of which syder is none.it looked OK when it started ,quite atmospheric ,and don't quote me because i knew it wasn't going to be a Oscar winner,but overall it was pretty bad.on the other side the settings were not bad and even its graphics were OK ,it was just spoiled by the terrible acting .i can see it being remade with some decent actors ,but no ,syder was crap and spoiled the film ,so sorry don't recommend ,except maybe for kids.

I would compare this movie to pond scum, if not for the fact that it would be an insult to pond scum.The acting is terrible, and - worse - the plot is nonsensical. Silly plot points are particularly troubling for a Sherlock Homes film, as the stories typically rely on intellectual consistency and insights. The fact that this film involves monsters and the White Chapel murders means it's not even suitable for children. As such, it's difficult to imagine how production was ever financed. A rich relative or generous government subsidies, perhaps? Ben Snyder's take on Sherlock Holmes is insipid ... but he certainly isn't helped by the stiff dialog.
