Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

In the Wrong Guy, Dave Foley finds a body and, following a tradition established in many Hitchcock movies, grabs the knife, gets covered in blood, and goes on the run. Only in this case, he doesn't realize that the police have identified the real killer and Foley is not wanted by anyone.Foley is wonderful as a dim-witted protagonist who bumbles from one seeming disaster to the next without ever realizing the real situation. While he seems to be a rather lucky idiot, the real killer is skilled but wildly unlucky, as his path keeps crossing with Foley's chaotic one.The script is clearly a Hitchcock take-off, but while the score and opening credits make this explicit, director David Steinberg shows little interest in turning the film into an out-and-out Hitchcock parody. Primarily a TV director, he is very good at effectively presenting jokes, but he's not a stylist, and he never does anything specifically Hitchcockian unless the joke requires it.That's okay, though, because the movie is very funny, with plenty of solid gags, like a noble banker being run out of business by an unscrupulous farmer and a fence in need of repair, and there are solid performances by Tilly as the addled love interest and David Anthony Higgins as a lazy cop.I came across this movie accidentally, and I feel it should be better known. I only know Foley from that sitcom about the radio that was pretty good and an episode of Kids in the Hall that didn't excite me, but he's a really talented guy who can quickly establish a character and make him both convincing and ridiculous. Even if you're not a fan of KITH or Hitchock, check this out.

Funny. Not a-laugh-a-minute funny. Not, OMG that's so stupid it's funny funny, but funny. Dry, unrepentant, continual, situational funny. Enema bag Jones funny, really. We can't afford any ice funny. Rolling thru rolling train funny. Heh. Foley without the kids, well, he's good without. I love these dry comedies. Not everything is handed to you, in fact you have to make out the comedy for yourselves, and that makes it different... great, perhaps... and definitely Canadian. There ain't no laugh track here. Colm Feore is excellent, as is the inept detective. There is a subtle reference to Hitchcock, ending up with the hang from the Statue of Liberty. See, if you can, and damn the farmers trying to shut the bank down.

I have no idea why this film is so unknown. I love it and it's so funny, of course, if you like dumb humor. The main character Nelson doesn't get a promotion at his job, so he goes crazy in front of all his co-workers. He later finds out his dead boss and convinced that police will be looking for him, escapes (fugitive style). The thing is, the police knows Nelson didn't kill his boss, because there was a camera at boss' office.Nelson however, tries to escape from the police, being careful of every step, while the real killer is convinced Nelson is after him (because certain coincidences occur). The movie is great, Foley's acting is great and the whole movie has this positive feel to it. Some jokes are so... dumb and funny, you laugh just because of the dumbness of them. All in all, I own the original DVD, and people should see this movie, because it really is great!

I didn't know what to expect, but from near the beginning this film is comedy genius. The name scene in the hospital ranks with some of my favourites ever. The humour is in the detailing in much of the film, with good contribution from the lazy detective. I have to write some more, as it wont let me submit unless there's 10 lines, luckily I'm happy to rant a bit about Dave Foley's performance. Never seen him before, but will look out for him in future. He makes this film rather special. What was really excellent about this film (and essential to the humour in the plot) was the early twist revealing that this wasn't going to be another predictable wrong guy film. I wont reveal it as don't want to spoil it, but its very cleverly done. All in all, highly recommended.
