Highly Overrated But Still Good
Captivating movie !
The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
So glad I found this. Genuine masterpiece. Acting is believable and tender. The plot is complicated but not unbelievable. It has grit and charm and love and pathos and comedy and music. "Sing! You nutter"
I don't often give a 10 but I was left with no alternative after binge watching this amazing show. I was hooked after watching the first 15 minutes. A wonderful story line, well written dialogue and fabulous acting makes this stand out in its genre. I would highly recommend to all and have done so since watching it.
I've watched the series twice on Netflix and both times I found myself sobbing at the ending. Skarsgard plays a brooding Scandinavian detective, now working in London, who sees his partner shot to death and who, like his fellow detectives, can't rest till he finds her killer. Sounds rather cliche-ish, but be assured it is not.
Stellar Stargard is an actor's actor--seems each role he turns his talent to, though similar in character to the previous, remains compelling straight through to the end. Though one might argue that he seems to play the same person each time, I can point to any number of American actors who reach A list, but still bring nothing but cliché to their characters--no names mentioned, for fear of offending loyal fans. Having said that (of Skarsgard), any one of the others could easily have punctured the perfection, but hold true. Camera and editing, dialogue-- everything together makes for a work of art. Having agreed that it is perfect, can anyone tell us where the scene of the enormous tree was shot, which River climbs? Wife argues that England has no trees of that sort.
