The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

I had accidentally watched this film in Dubrovnik, Croatia in an open Jadran film theater. Film theater was nicer place then the film itself. Also, viewing audience did not really understood what is really in the film.Conservatives lashing back at Michael Moore! Some of us understood that. Well, I think they have it right from their point of view. He worked tirelessly to take the White House away from the Republicans. and he finally did. It was not a miracle that someone would make a film trying to bash Michael.Well, I think plot should be looked as a continuous struggle between the Republicans and Democrats for power in the USA.Acting is OK, but nothing spectacular. All in all, if you want to watch Republicans bashing at Democrats this is a film for you, otherwise, you might skip it, nothing special in it.

On the July 4th, a group of children listens to the story of the documentary filmmaker Michael Malone (Kevin P. Farley) told by their grandfather (Leslie Nielsen) at a family barbecue. Michael wants to abolish the July 4th and does not celebrate the date and refuses to visit his family. Three clumsy Afghan terrorists consider that Michael Malone hates the United States of America and posing of producers, they invite him to make a feature with the intention of helping them to recruit new terrorists. During the night, Michael is visited by JFK that advises that he will be visited by three spirits. Soon General Patton, George Washington and the Angel of Death visit him trying to show him what would happen to the United States if pacifism prevails over war."An American Carol" is a parody of "A Christmas Carol" where a Michael Malone is a parody of Michael Moore in the role of the Scrooge. There are funny, but also moronic gags and after a promising beginning, the plot concludes with a terrible boastful nationalism that spoils the plot and the character. My vote is five.Title (Brazil): "Corra que Tem Loucos por Aí!" ("Run Since There Are Madmen Around")

There is plenty to make fun of regarding the extremists on both the left and the right. Unfortunately, this film is all about cheap and hamfisted polemics and nothing about humor. It really appears to have been written over the course of a few hours and a few bottles of wine. And its really a shame, because I've enjoyed many of the films that Zucker has done in the past. But this time he brought all of his anger and butthurt feelings to the table instead of his comedy chops. This was nothing more than a personal vanity project of Zucker's and it showed.EPIC FAIL

This could genuinely be one of the worst movies I've ever, ever seen. Jaw-droppingly, horrifying right-wing, with not one single redeeming feature. Compulsive viewing because... I just couldn't believe what I was seeing, and whether or not there was some kind of tongue-in-cheek satirical payoff... but there wasn't. Just a non-stop humourless onslaught against anything, or anyone, who opposes the extremist right- wing agenda of the likes of Palin, Limbaugh, Fox News, Ex-Pres Bush, Beck and the countless other neo-con idiots that are making American into a global laughing stock.David Zucker is one of those bizarre Americans who transformed themselves, mutant-like, from a comedy satirist into a neo-con right- wing mouth-foaming bigot after the WTC attack.Every single second of this movie is spent ripping anyone even remotely humanist or left-wing. It extols the virtues of "shoot first, ask questions later", in the name of its blind, moronic worship of the grand turgid, bloated monster that is right-wing America.Freedom comes in one flavour, and with only one set of rules; do as we say, believe what we believe, or we'll shoot you.I would have switched it off had I not been so frozen by it's stunning offensiveness. This is a movie that makes the USA dumber just by existing.Seriously, David Zucker, you've turned into one disgusting human being.
