Definitely this movie is not a waste of time. Good actors and interesting scenarios. Congratulations . With largely improvised dialogue and a cast including genuine ex-offenders, Chapiron captures a powerful stench of authenticity. Covers predictable ground with admirable sincerity and is notable for some eye-catching performances, not least that of Adam Butcher as an angry young man.

A mean prison thriller that goes for the jugular throughout, the Canadian film DOG POUND is in actual fact a remake of the British borstal classic SCUM from 1979. While it's not as powerful or harrowing as that film, nevertheless it packs a punch in its harsh depiction of bullying and brutality within prison confines. The prison in this film is a juvenile one and the movie is populated by new and unfamiliar faces, but don't let that put you off, because DOG POUND turns out to be a highly effective movie in its own right. The acting is up and down and probably the weakest part of the production, but that matters not when the direction is strong and the writing compelling.DOG POUND is a slow paced film for the most part and yet it's alive with simmering tension as character relationships develop and things move towards some scenes of violence which are devastating in their depiction. Some of the sub-plots are distinctly underwhelming (with the fate of one particular character not a patch on his counterpart in SCUM) but others hit home with precision force, making this a film I really got into.

Warning -- spoilerFirst, I want to point out that the 1 star rating is only because IMDb does not allow a zero. I found this nothing but a display of violence, hatred, and revenge from the time the three new boys were admitted to the facility until the last survivor was beaten (presumably to death) by the guards. "Trustees," the inmates who had earned some degree of trust by their honorable behavior, were shown to not be worthy of any trust, because all they did was use it abuse lower-level inmates. There was only one half-hearted attempt at any kind of counseling, and it ended in a fistfight because the "teacher" let insults fly without even bothering to encourage civil discourse. Other than that, it was unreasoning hatred, violence, and revenge from first frame to last. A complete waste of time.

Dog Pound features three primary inmates and their empty routines at a facility for troubled teenagers: I must say this is definitely a must-watch film. This film expresses so much emotion that I can feel empathy towards the characters and cried at some portions. The actors' portrayal of each character was crucial in making the movie breath-taking and emotional and, luckily, they were successful. The horrors that each young adult endures is sickening, yet entertaining in which they are excellent actors for the roles portrayed. With the help of the other actors, it made the movie feel real and you just had to lean in because you were so engrossed. I highly recommend watching this superb movie if you don't mind violent actions.
