Here they enjoy the local hospitality until they realize that they are being used by a slippery showman named Farnum to lure the rarest, most mysterious monster of them all, "the Beast" into a trap. Frankie is taken by the Beast but tables turn and she ends up rescuing him and returning with him to Monster High. This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

There is nothing really bad about this film, but there also isn't a single aspect that makes this movie worth the watch or particularly memorable. We are in a great era for animated films right now with Pixar being top of the really strong competition, but with much quantity, there's also always films that do not deliver. "Escape from Skull Shores" is one of these. I see there are more of these "Monster High" movies that run for under an hour and this one here is the first I saw. And because of the lack of quality, it's probably also the last. The animation is really mediocre, in terms of characters, but also setting. The story is never convincing in terms of romance, drama and, the worst, comedy. I never thought this was a funny movie and there wasn't a single scene that had me laugh. I see that this is a film primarily aimed at teenage girls, but this is not a movie that the next generation of cinephiles should grow up with watching. Not recommended.
