It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

I have never submitted a review for IMDb before, but i made an account especially for this film because I am almost angry at how bad this film is. The characters are terrible, unbelievable and the acting is a joke (and I hardly ever think about whether acting is 'good' or 'bad', but it was so bad I noticed it here). The main character is just so uninspiring, a dead fish on a stick could do a better job. There is absolutely ZERO chemistry between any of the love interests. What connected Darcy and Elizabeth was their intelligence and sense of humour, but none of this is found in the conversations between Darcy and his new love interest. The audience is left dumbfounded as to why they have a connection. The magic of Pride and Prejudice, and other period dramas is the subtly of the suspense, and of the discourse and wit of the characters, and absolutely non of that is achieved here. Why even bother making a mini-series about P&P if you can't even retain a sliver of these aspects. I feel like the whole story line is just a random chain of events that is really dull, and I do not care about any of the characters. I am usually pretty easy to please but during some scenes I actually feel furious at how bad they are. Hate is a strong word but I think I can definitely say that I hate this mini-series, I hate it more than anything I have ever watched.

I didn't make the mistake of reading reviews before watching this so I went in with no expectations. Before going any further I have to admit to having watched the 90's version of P & P and read the novel dozens of times. A true Austen freak, I am.Like other reviewers, at first I was offended by the crudeness and lack of tact displayed by the Amanda character when she entered the world of the novel. How dare any true Austen fan behave in a way that displays such ignorance of Lizzie's world? She should have fit right in. But then I realized the choice to NOT make Amanda a perfect Eliza Bennet clone made for a much more dynamic story and more amusing moments between the characters. Instead of giving her the perfect accent, the perfect deportment, and the perfect manners right from the start, it took her some time to fit in. Her clumsy manner and bluntness caused her to make some mistakes that would seem impossible for a true Austen fan but enabled unexpected twists and turns in the story. And its these twists and the what ifs that I loved. I loved that the wrong people fell in love. I love that everything she thought was supposed to happen didn't happen. If I wanted to watch a P & P imitation, I would just watch the real thing again. I found the movie Becoming Jane, which attempted to follow a truer Jane Austen style, to be a sappy and insipid imitation that was truly forgettable and predictable. No one else can do Jane Austen and Lost in Austen doesn't try to. Instead, its fun and impertinent in a way that I think Jane herself would appreciate.

This is one of those series that could count as a guilty pleasure. It tailors to the needs of young women that look for romance as it's written in Jane Austen novels. Of course, reality (and reality in Jane Austen's time) is quite different. The series is funny, sometimes over the top. Jemima Rooper (Amanda Price) plays a character you dislike a first. I simply couldn't believe she'd be the one to upend Elizabeth Bennet. That she'd be good enough to take her place. But then suddenly you end up wanting her to win Darcy's hart.If you can suspend your disbelief for a little bit, just sit back and enjoy the show.

All the actors inhabit their parts splendidly and as the novel is so well known, the producer, director, screenwriter & actors have produced a very different comic spoof and slant of JA's classic work.It is especially enjoyable for her many aficionados who have all of her novels and own film adaptations of them on DVD but also possess a sense of humour.I understand from IMDb.com there is to be a 2011 feature film based on "Lost in Austen" which me and my wife will undoubtedly want to see when it is released. It would be logical if this film portrayed Elizabeth coping with life in 2011 Hammersmith and for the viewers to see a mirror image of the plot brought forward to the present day as we only saw Gemma Arteton (Elizabeth) towards the end and briefly in the first episode setting the scene.I have awarded this miniseries 8/10.P.S.I thought Hugh Bonneville as MR B. especially entertaining.
