Wonderful character development!

Disapointment

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

My daughter and I love the 8 movies to die for movies. The previews for this were very deceiving. I was completely bored from the first ten minutes on. I know these movies are hit and miss but truly don't waste any time watching this one. The writer had the right idea but took too long to convey it. It's very dull and drawn out. It loses the watchers attention from pretty much the very beginning. I was so very bored that I couldn't wait till the next murder or the end of the movie. Was actually hoping for the end. Not too mention that the movie just got stranger and stranger as it progressed and the characters weren't introduced properly and really didn't make much sense. It's 80's slasher movie meets bad acting.

This is a good horror movie with good acting but the premise of the whole movie is absurd. Who in their right mind would pick up a stranger in the middle of the woods when it's dark. Even if I hit someone in the woods at night, I would not offer him / her a ride, especially since I can't their face and they don't talk. If this wasn't part of the storyline, I'd give this movie a higher rating...note sure why they wrote that into the script...writers must've scored some bad weed that night.From the way they ended the movie, it seems there may be a part two. Unless they get some good weed and write something good, I hope they don't.

Penny,a young woman traumatized by a childhood auto accident that killed her parents,accompanies her therapist on a road trip back to the scene of the accident as part of her therapy to overcome her fear of cars.But when the two women accidentally cross paths with a dark and mysterious Hitch Hiker on a lonely stretch of mountain highway an attempt at healing suddenly takes a terrifying detour into a horrific life-and-death struggle with a ruthless,deranged killer bent on preying upon Penny's worst fears."Penny Dreadful" is an unremarkable slasher with tons of quick cuts masquerading as scares.The acting is solid and it's always nice to see Michael Berryman in a small cameo,unfortunately the killings are laughable and there is not much blood and gore.Still "Penny Dreadful" is better than Richard Brandes horrible vampire flick "Out for Blood".5 out of 10.

Penny Dreadful is not a great horror film, I've seen better. But what it is is an amazingly brilliant psychological thriller , Penny dreadful is a well made and well acted horror film that will satisfy any horror lovers urge for a good time. After surviving a horrible automobile accident that killed both her parents Penny Dearborn has an unstable and perpetual fear of cars, her therapists suggest that they confront her fear head on. So they take a road trip to cure Penny's fear, but it has dangerous and disastrous results when they pick up a psychotic hitchhiker. Penny Dreadful is a dark and gritty psychological thriller that takes you into the mind and soul of a frightened and traumatized young girl and her fight to say alive. This film explore three main themes, 1. terror and what it can do to you if you let it control you. 2: What certain events in your life can do to change who you are and what you are. 3: What the darkness of a quiet woods can do to turn your worst fears into a reality. Penny Dreadful is a psychological thriller that is right up there with the best and will continue to shock and scare you for a long time to come.
