Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

"Butterfly Effect 3" seems determined not to copy the original film slavishly like the first sequel did, and it is indeed sufficiently different to hold your interest. The side (or should I say the butterfly?) effect of that is that its concept of time travel is less internally consistent than that of the previous two movies: here, the hero sometimes goes back to places he's been in the past by getting inside his younger selves' brains, and sometimes, if he concentrates hard enough, he goes back to places and times he's never been in, which means he time-travels physically and not just mentally. Perhaps because of these inconsistencies, the film successfully puts across the feeling of displacement that a few too many mind / time trips can cause. It all leads to a twisted but rather predictable revelation. Warning: some of the violence is exceedingly grisly. **1/2 out of 4.

There are plenty of good summaries out there so I won't write you another. Lots of time travel, lots of questions, not so many answers. There's also a fair amount of brutal violence so, consider yourself warned.Actors play their roles very convincingly, Rachel Miner especially hit it out of the park, eclipsing Chris Carmack in every scene that they share. There isn't a lot of explanation of what happens and who the characters are - and I think that's intentional, the viewer has to fill in a lot of blanks along the way. It was a lot of fun to watch the past get rewritten and watch the backgrounds and personalities of characters change dramatically as a result. These changes to the present after he comes back from the jump are pretty reasonable and easy to follow; for instance he goes back in time and commits a crime and has a worse relationship with the police as a consequence.I took off a star only because the villain's plan wasn't as simple as it could have been. Some call it contrived as if it were a bad thing - it's surprising and upon re-watching it makes a lot of sense. If you have a keen eye you might see it coming on the first watch. If I could change anything about this movie I'd axe the epilogue completely and spend another ten minutes or so developing the minor characters.

Good movie, but not a great one. Not one of those movies that make me sit down and imagine myself in the protagonist's shoes. The first movie was thought provoking, during and after the movie. I came up with dozens of tricks and possibilities that I would have pulled off if I was in Sam's place. Revelations was thrilling and well directed, but it did not utilize the possibilities of time travel to its maximum potential, nor did it clearly display the 'butterfly effect'.COMPARISON WITH THE FIRST MOVIE: -In the first movie Evan went back in time with a plan. However, in Revelations, Sam was clueless and clumsy every time he jumped back. There was no apparent purpose of his time travel and it would become obvious that things were not going to end in his favor. -Revelations did not have as many plot holes as the first movie. But that was only because we were not aware what Sam was doing at the time he traveled back. In the first movie, we knew exactly what Evan was doing and were familiar with the scenes.WHAT I WANT FROM A FUTURE BUTTERFLY EFFECT MOVIE: -The original concept of time travel be kept,i.e, the protagonist can only travel back to certain life events. -The audience should be intensely familiarized with each of these events. -The time traveler experiments with his abilities to analyze and memorize every piece of information at these events. -The violence be dimmed down a bit so more people can watch it. -The time traveler THINKS BIG. It is annoying to see that such a powerful ability is used for petty issues, compared to what can actually be accomplished.

First of all the first butterfly effect was probably the best one made, And the second one was pretty good but the third one sucked. At the end of the second butterfly effect the baby she was holding was looking at a picture of his dad , and it looked like he was trying to go back in time. Now why in the ____ couldn't the third have started out there maybe the child went back and saved his dad and mom from dying in the car wreck where at the end the only one that died was the dad. Come on guys surely to GOD you added that in the end for a reason. Make a 4th one but this time let it correspond with the second one start it were the second one left off please get this rite.Hire me and I will do it I have no experience but I know how the movie should be
