Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

Being a veteran, I won't bore you with the many glaring military technical errors in this "work." It was simply atrocious, but that was the least of the troubles of this movie. While the premise of the movie was worthy to be told: aliens invading, and a military response, all the players and the rest of the filming crew couldn't make it a memorable flick.I wonder if veteran actors Carl Weathers and Mario Van Peebles were desperate for work that they signed for this? I've seen their excellent work in the past and they couldn't make this a watchable fare. The battleship USS North Carolina museum stood in for the USS Iowa. While they were no doubt compensated for the use of their museum, I would be embarrassed to bring up the subject of this movie!I have no idea why this work was even made; maybe to try to cash in on its high budget, similarly themed competitor, "Battleship"; or someone just wanted to burn what little money they had to make a movie; but I do know that there was no effort to make this anything special and it showed.

I see a lot of comments of people saying not to watch this movie. I would have to disagree with them. I actually recommend this movie to "movie buffs", and people who love movies. Why, you ask? Well, yes it is a horrible, horrible movie. However, movies are designed to entertain for the most part. I will admit, that this movie is surprisingly void of boring scenes that make us wonder, "When will this movie finally be over?!". That is the only reason I even gave it 2 stars. Otherwise, this movie is absolute trash, but somehow, it kept me entertained. A lot of the acting is terrible. The wardrobes are especially HORRIBLE.. and I mean HORRIBLE! Aside from the traditional brown military uniforms for ranked officers, the uniforms for the crew are so terrible, that I would liken them to props used in a middle school play. They were wearing plain old blue baseball hats and plain red and blue sweaters and shirts that look like they just came off a Wal-Mart shelf. They still have the wrinkles in them that clothes have when they have been sitting on a shelf for sale before they are washed. They didn't even take the time to attempt to make their clothing look used in the very least. The props are also horrible. Not a single prop looks like military grade at all. The visual effects and audio are some of the worst I have ever seen. The continuity is horrible. The men playing the Navy seamen look about as far away as being a Navy seamen as possible.. and especially the "SEALS". They were either little skinny guys or overweight. The hair of some of the male actors was too long and would not even be within military guidelines. This movie looks like it was produced and directed by people that lacked even the basic knowledge of the military. Like I said, this movie is HORRIBLE, but SO HORRIBLE that I believe it would actually entertain a movie buff for that reason!

This is in no way a good movie, but it is at least as good (or bad) as movie "Battleship" (2012)(qv) and, from a business standpoint was obviously made for significantly less money.May contain spoilers. The basic plot is similar enough to "Battleship" that even though I will not detail the plot, it really isn't a surprise. The acting is relatively wooden even with a couple of well known actors (Peebles and Weathers) appearing. The special effects are a tad better than the Asylum average and were a pleasant surprise, even thought they still were not good in an absolute sense. The main positive part of this movie was the writing, primarily the plot. While a lot of the dialogue was quite weak, the actual plot held together a lot better than did the blockbuster this movie was trying to copy. While the ending did have a taste of "deus ex machina" to it, it still made more sense than did the end of "Battleship".I can imagine that if the script had been edited a bit better and had a few more bucks been available for effects, this movie might have actually moved up into the "not too bad" level. As it is, it still falls well short of being enjoyable, but the team did manage to do a few things right and that makes it better than expected.

Realistically, this movie was horrible on so many fronts, I can't even count. From downright insane graphic effects to bad green screen work, sloppy camera work and editing, over-dramatic performances and glances, needless pausing during dialogue, sets that are far from real and so much more.It was so zany and insane that I had an absolute laugh.I recently watched Battleship and disliked that movie as opposed to this. This was purposely bad, done on a fraction of a budget and it entertained. Is it the best movie ever? Hell no! Don't even think to expect that. This has more cheese than a pizza loaded with cheese and topped with extra cheese sprinkled after taken out of the oven. This was pure mush and anybody who fails to realize this should stick to watching over-hyped blockbuster failures with huge budgets and stories that suck, but don't make you laugh, but just pisss you off. This movie was bad...very bad, and for that fact, it was simply very good at being bad.
