The Demented (2013)

Very best movie i ever watch

Memorable, crazy movie

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

There are movies that have in-depth plots. There are movies that have interesting, complex characters. These films often make us contemplate our existence through obtuse themes that require introspection and careful pondering. And there are movies that are none of these things and yet still maintain a level of entertainment - visceral experiences that emote excitement, or fright, or romance, or comedy... perhaps even all four if we're lucky.The Demented has none of these traits. It is devoid of any artistic originality. It is predictable and bland. Watching it makes me contemplate how much I value the hours I have left on this earth, and whether or not I should choose to go do something else right at this moment. But The Demented is a cheap zombie flick, and this fact alone forgives many sins.The ending however, catapults this film past redemption. It makes me angry in ways that other things make me angry, like willful ignorance, 3rd world poverty, and excessive Facebook selfies. In the last few minutes of the film, just before the credits rolled, had there been a baby present, I would have punched he/she in the face. Had there been an invaluable painting handy, I would have smashed it into oblivion and declared art dead forever.This is what you can look forward to if you decide to watch this film. Perhaps that's what you're after: a reason to be depressed and angry at the world. Perhaps you're manic and need a reason to not love yourself anymore. Then this is the film for you.

I was not expecting too much from the movie and it proved me right.The acting seemed at least capable and sometimes quite good with Kayla Ewell and Ashlee Brian standing out a little.The story line was the standard, people turn to Zombie like creatures and normal people turn to morons. Surely they could get someone to write in sensible characters. We are told it's important to be quiet but throughout the movie not only do the girls scream like banshees, they also constantly talk at the top of their voices or shout. Why is it that decent believable situations and characters are rarely written in to these movies? It's as though the movie makers just want to annoy the audience.It's a low budget movie so don't expect any great special effects, major celebs or even minor ones. The "28 Days Later" style zombies lack the realism or makeup of said movie.You might be disappointed by the ends of the movie, but if you have little else to do this is not the worse Zombie film I have ever seen and could have been quite good with believable characters even though it brought nothing new to the genre.

I really didn't think this movie was that bad but I am stuck in a place in where there is not much else to watch. Worth renting but not worth the $17.95 I paid for it. I will stick this one on the shelf and watch it again in a few years. I think I've only seen 2 of the actors/actresses in other movies (the other movies where much better). The plot is about the same as every other low budget zombie flick. One vehicle for a group of people and it got disabled…that is just the way it is supposed be. And there always has to be the cheating boyfriend/girlfriend…it just wound not be right without it. What???? Low budget and no boob shots. A county home in south Louisiana with no guns inside…totally unheard off. One big surprise was that the black guy did not get killed first. The double ending pretty much turned the movie into crap. Someone can put a zombie picture on the front of a Barney soundtrack and most zombie fans would buy it hoping for the next Night of the Living Dead. This film did exactly what it was supposed to do…It got our money.

"The Demented" continues the saga of an apocalypse where rage zombies plague mankind. The film is directed by Christopher Roosevelt and stars Kayla Ewell, Richard Kohnke, Ashlee Brian, Brittney Alger, Sarah Butler and Michael Welch. The story is a standard melodrama filled with carnage and mayhem as a group of friends head out for one last get- together before heading off to their own futures. Throw in a terrorist attack, which leads to an outbreak of mutant rage zombies, who spread like wildfire through the effected community, and "The Demented" gives us another thrill ride into a nightmare zombieland. "The Demented" story is a typical one with arrogant yet reflective youths looking to bond fighting unimaginable horrors. I didn't find any real holes in the plot line or characters stories which happens a lot in films. The terrorist attack is a familiar one but it is fresher than the standard schlock for "how zombies are made". It plays closer to the viral outbreak in other more powerful zombie tales like "28 Days Later" and "The Devil's Playground". However this is a new geographical location of the outbreak-bayou country and small town America. The actual outbreak happens over the New Orleans area but the college kids are at a family home far outside the city in a smaller community. It allows for the action and story arch to maintain an affected level of entertainment without seeming redundant or boring. I found the characters likable and believable. I actually connected with them and the story managed to keep my attention through the whole film. The special effects and action sequences in "The Demented" are intense and very commanding as the cast fight (and as some die) to get to the safe location of extraction. The thrills and even chilling moments are evenly spaced and timed well enough to create tension enough for excitement. The zombies are not the tradition creature we expect but more bleeding rage virulent humans with homicidal tendencies similar to "The Crazies"-fast movers that created even more thrilling action packed moments on screen. I enjoyed the added little element of the zombies "suspended state" when the smell or sound of the living wasn't stimulating them. "The Demented" isn't really anything knew for the zombie genre but the film gives a solid story and plenty of intense action. The acting is as good as some big budget flicks and for the most part "The Demented" delivers a good level of entertainment. I enjoyed this one as much as the other zombie films I mentioned in this review.
