Cousins, Bo and Luke Duke, with the help of their eye-catching cousin, Daisy and moonshine-running Uncle Jesse, try and save the family farm from being destroyed by Hazzard County's corrupt commissioner, Boss Hogg. Their efforts constantly find the 'Duke Boys' eluding authorities in 'The General Lee', their 1969 orange Dodge Charger that keeps them one step ahead of the dimwitted antics of the small southern town's Sheriff, Roscoe P. Coltrane.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

This movie is the extreme exemple of a comedy movie that isn't funny at all If they had improved the plot , changed the silly script , chosen better actors I think we could get a 6.5 rating

I wasn't a devoted fan of the original TV series, but that only means it took me a while to get in the habit of watching every week, and I wouldn't mind seeing the remaining episodes now. It just gets expensive to watch old shows. But there wasn't much to like about this movie compared to the old series. That's not to say I didn't sort of enjoy it. It just won't hold up in a comparison between the two. There were fun car chases and wrecks and, of course, the General Lee jumping.Speaking of the General Lee, this movie is somewhat more politically correct than the series. We are reminded that some people think that Confederate flag is offensive. We never saw the cousins' feelings on the subject, but they were driving through the black section of Atlanta with that racist symbol on display. Some rednecks applauded their devotion to the South, some people showed they were offended. Was there any good acting? Burt Reynolds, of course. But I couldn't like him as much as the adorable Sorrell Booke. And Rosco? The difference between this man and James Best reminds me of when I saw the movie "Hogan's Heroes" was based on. The movie Rosco was like the movie Schultz--not as much of a moron, not as likable. James Best would have been more like the TV Schultz. You just had to like him in spite of things. TV Enos was more of a moron, but movie Enos was somewhat likable.More cops, too, than on TV, and these cops were to be taken seriously. That's actually more realistic. The only truly bad acting I remember was Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse. Of course I like Willie Nelson the singer, and I thought he was better at playing himself in an episode of the TV series "Monk". The idea of someone like Willie playing Uncle Jesse is an appealing one, but the results just weren't always ideal. The cousins weren't quite as appealing, and when they had a disagreement--well, they just didn't seem appealing any more. But they were good enough.Jessica Simpson was tougher than Catherine Bach, and hotter. She took off her top in one scene. And then in another scene, she took off a trench coat to show what she had on under those short shorts. The top matched the bottom, and what wasn't covered looked fit, tan and amazing. And all that blonde hair. Simpson didn't seem at all bothered by putting herself on display, and that's just fine with me. She still showed intelligence.Pretty girls wearing skimpy outfits or towels were a big part of this movie. I liked the girls who helped out with the big mystery. Was it worth seeing? I can't say. You may be better off never having seen the series, or you'll try to compare the two.

...that isn't a Broken Lizard movie. The gang's all here doing cameos, and Jay directs too - and there's a great homage to Super Troopers - all of which help make this an hilarious movie. I've never seen an episode of the series and never had any interest to do so, so that helps me love this because it's not "spoiling my childhood memories" as one reviewer put it. But I also love all the Broken Lizard movies, so perhaps it's only natural that I'd love this too. And what's not to love? It's hilarious and fun. I cannot fathom why so many people bash Jessica Simpson, but from many of the negative comments I read about her, I suspect a ton of people are jealous of her for some reason. Personally, I think that she is not only gorgeous and sexy, but she's also a very talented and convincing actress. She's great in another of my favorite movies: Employee of the Month. In this she's perfect, and I can't imagine anyone else playing Daisy Duke - and that includes whoever played her in the series. I never want to find out who that was because I don't care. Jessica Simpson is Daisy Duke for me. Sean William Scott and Johnny Knoxville are hysterical as Bo and Luke. I've never watched a Jackass movie or episode, but Knoxville is funny and likable in this and The Last Stand - and also a convincing actor. The humor is goofy and funny in this as it is in every Broken Lizard movie - who couldn't find the scene funny where Bo and Luke wear Japanese name-tags and crash the college campus and the science nerd calls them by their Japanese names and Sean William Scott's like "What did you call me?" I give this movie 10 out of 10.

I'm not a native southerner, but watching the original Dukes of Hazzard was a memorable and uplifting part of my childhood. The Dukes were the best of people, people who did the right thing despite the cost, people who would go all out for a stranger in need. The boys were certainly wild, but in a good way, with their hearts in the right place. Daisy was a classy, angelic lady. She never intentionally flaunted her sexuality, except for good reason (helping someone else out by providing a distraction). The Producers and Director of this POS movie turned the Duke boys into imbecilic, classless, wise-cracking, sex-crazed, frat boys. And they turned Daisy into a straight out slut. Those who liked this movie point out the original series was often corny and unsophisticated by today's standards, like a lot of 80s action shows were (Knight Rider, A- Team, AirWolf, etc.). But it was a wholesome flavor of corny, the kind that left you with a good feeling. Turning it into a bawdy roll in the filthy mud isn't an improvement. It's not even original, because that's what many series and movies are doing these days. People who support this movie over the original series are just sheep, all wanting the same, lowbrow entertainment out of their movies. If you were a fan of the original series, I'd recommend you skip this movie, as most likely, it'll only make you mad and disgusted.
