Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Awful, just awful. I honestly couldn't finish it. Ya, I know it's pure fluff. Just an ego stroke for Mr. Seagal. I've seen better action on a kindergarten playground and, better acting. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to finish gouging out my eyes.

Steven Seagal is an undercover officer who has infiltrated a criminal organisation and ends up getting shot by the police and was dead for a while hence the title of the film.Still undercover he ends up in New Alcatraz presumably the authorities must be sick and tired of timeshare touts in San Francisco buying tickets for this place and decided to jail them all. However a group criminals have broken into New Alcatraz just as an inmate is getting executed as he knows the whereabouts of some buried gold. Its left to Seagal to save the day. Here we have have an older flabbier Seagal with I presume a hair weave. Long past his physical prime, it is left to his stunt double to do the action scenes. The film has a few good supporting actors, but the action sequences are dull, the story is flimsy as well as silly, its really nothing to get excited about and its no wonder Seagal was soon to go Straight to DVD.

The movie feels like one big rip-off Michael Bay's „The Rock". Still , it's the smallest problem of the whole movie. A loud and lousy action film, sloppily directed , lazily written and badly acted. There are action scenes in HALF PAST DEAD and none of them are exciting. Fights are badly choreographed and shot from random angles. The explosions, LOT of explosions are boring too. There is lot of bad rap music here and what is even worse a rap star plays a big part in the movie . Yeah , JA Rule is Seagal's sidekick in this one. There is no chemistry between them and I'm still waiting for a rap star that CAN ACT. Jeffrey Atkins certainly can't. I'm not even gonna waste my time to write about Seagal's "acting". Throughout the entire film he's sporting some kind of jacket , probably to hide the fact how fat he is.The plot is thin and you're introduced to some characters with no back-story . And the characters are dull and unlikable .The movie is pretty laughable in places . Seagal plays a Russian , JA Rule fights with Trinity from "The Matrix" , oh wait it's not him , it's WHITE STUNTMAN (Sic!) , Seagal RUNS AWAY from numerous fights , the big twist with "You lied to me" , the hero and villain of an action film not even having one fight together, the inmates have PlayStation 2 consoles in their cells … The film was also cursed with a PG-13 rating After this film, he has only made small screen films. In seeing this film it is very easy to see why. It's not as bad and painful as others say . I did have few laughs and it's a short and forgettable movie. I give it 1/10.

What a dog. Saw this on a cable station the other evening. They actually changed the title to something less memorable. Must be the network was afraid too many people would recognize the original title of this train wreck. This movie sucked on so many levels that I'm at a loss where to begin. The acting? Well, Steven Seagal will never get an Academy Award, but his efforts here left me dumbstruck. He's a gangster of some sort. You can tell because he speaks in a stilted "street" language that makes him sound impaired. To be fair, that's not his fault. It's obviously the result of a script written by a white guy who wanted to inject ethnic credibility into a prison movie...and failed miserably. Ja Rule comes along for the ride. The best thing I can say about his performance is that he wears a tank top to show us he's tattooed and prison buff.Speaking of which, is Steven so out of shape that he has to cover his physique with heavy coats? Throughout the entire film he's sporting some kind of jacket. It doesn't matter where he is: in prison (where they apparently have no dress code for a star of Seagal's stature), on the run from the law, or in bed with his girlfriend. And I hate to be harsh, but Don Michael Paul's direction does nothing to help the situation. An action movie requires action sequences, not badly choreographed fights that are shot from random angles. Even the explosions - and there are plenty of explosions - are boring. Apparently, they're also invisible explosions, because no matter how many buildings and cars Steven blows up, the law can't follow his trail of carnage. This is really bad, bad stuff. I actually felt bad for Seagal. He never made masterpieces, but this is like a stick in the eye compared to UNDER SIEGE.
