When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

Satire has a hard time in Hollywood these, well, decades really. I was shocked to realize that this gem was produced way back in 2003 (at the height of the terrorism hysteria) ... and weren't released until five years later, and that only via home entertainment. Many recognizable faces (some already then, some later coming into TV prominence) have bit parts in this biting satire over everything stupid in contemporary America and everywhere else. It sounds like a perfect formula. And for once, it actually is. It is a breath of fresh air in a sea of really lousy "comedies", 'Scary Movie 27' and the lot.Imagine that scene, some producers sit in their office and say, "This Onion stuff is really funny, let's ask them if they'd be interested in making a feature movie from it." The movie gets made, comes back: "That's so (...) funny." "Yeah ... We can't put it out." "Yeah, let's not put it out." "It's just too frickin' funny, ain't it?" "Yeah, it'll give us loads of problems to put that out."Americans seriously need to get a sense of humour. (...) you and good night. (Actual line from the film.)Oh, and God bless Seth McFarlane for picking up that thread. Americans sorely need it.

The Onion Movie kicks a*s! Who would've thought that a film about 1 1/2 hours of news report could be so entertaining, and hilarious! It is best to leave your mind goes blank, and to not make any assumptions while watching this film. It'll certainly better that way. Hard-hitting jokes, straight-up commentary without the need to be politically correct, and uncanny ability to tickle your funny bones! It is presented in an unassuming way, letting the viewers to decide on its validity. Some viewers may get offended by the jokes, but it is not the intention of the film (or is it?) All in all, a wonderful film, make in an ingenious way, and delivered the right punchlines!

To the list of media satires we can now add "The Onion Movie", based on the farcical newspaper. The plot, so to speak, looks at anchorperson Norm Archer's (Len Cariou) frustration at his superiors' desire to advertise the release of a Steven Seagal flick than focus on a brewing war. Of course, this is an excuse for a series of outlandish sketches: a singer's pornographic lyrics, a terrorist training video, and "AREA SOCKS FOUND".I was laughing myself sick throughout much of the movie. It's just so hilarious how they throw everything at you out of the blue and just keep it coming. Naturally, you have to accept totally silly humor to like this. Since it apparently did poorly at test screenings, I conclude that the people at those screenings must have lacked senses of humor. This is pretty much the kind of stuff that one finds in "Airplane!" and such flicks. All in all, I think that you'll like this. I sure did, and I recommend it. Also starring Rodney Dangerfield.

If you like satirical view of the world (or should I say USA..?) today, than you will also like this film. Watching this is like changing channels on cable TV. And it is very entertaining! This is not a typical film, it has several layers which, in the end, somehow, 'blend in'. Advice: do not expect too much, just go and see it - because it offers enjoyable hour and a half; also, it is not a typical comedy which can be seen these days, it is appealing and worth watching.I don't know what do people who say that it is lame or dull (people who write comments here) think that a good comedy is...? 'Onion Movie' doesn't have a typical story line, it doesn't have an important, serious and mind-blowing point; but it is funny and put together in an interesting way. And that's it.
