This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

this is one of those movies where the direction of it has you clueless. I definitely liked it, and its alternative otherworldly interventions seem to be the end result of this story. What I mean is, there are two different things happening for a veteran of the Desert Storm. We see adrien brody either die or have flashbacks about five or six times...a lot of the film consists of his life within a mental hospital. This is the first time and only time I have seen exclamation and a different kind of passion in the acting and characterization that Daniel Craig plays.Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kris Kristofferson and Brad Renfro....plus kiera knightly all have parts in the movie. The ending of it totally rewinds to Christmas Eve making the sad lifestyle and grumpy mood Kiera had UNREAL.

well i have seen this movie long time ago and iv watched it again today,so i just don't know where to start. Acting - first of all id like to say about acting of all, from leading to outstanding. Adrien is Brilliant so is Kiera but i want say compliments to whole cast from Craig to Babak who is also Iraq boy... Directing - is so good, it is keeping you to watch, not just watch to watch it inside and think about all of the scene and meanings of them. Soundtrack - soundtrack is really calm, nice and thrilling, internal at same time,i cant imagine any other soundtrack for this plot and movie so enough with track.... Now i want to say a few word about the ending and meaning.like we all have noticed that this flick lets us to have our opinions about end and whole movie and makes us think about it after watch(this thing i loved most) id like to say my versions of end.The first one: Jack was murdered by the Iraq Boy and whole movie is agony or some hallucination.why i think that? 1)He is bleeding from the same place where he was when he got shot from Iraq boy and when he died in last scene 2)the fact that the jacket place is actually morgue so if you ll watch closely its kind of same frame when he lies wounded in Iraq and when hi lies over Jacket, i mean same eyes, same face same camera moving and stuff. i cant figure out the Jackies role in this version truly. The second one. what just plot says,Jack died in the past and survived in future so survived Jackies mom.

When you start a movie starring Adrien Brody, you know you're in for quite an experience. An actor like Daniel Day-Lewis or Al Pacino, Brody immerses himself in his work and always becomes quite believable in the character he is playing. His role in The Jacket was no different. This dark, gritty film from 2005, captures the essence of despair of a world Brody's character had already left.We first meet our star, Jack Starks (Adrien Brody) in a military hospital during the Gulf War. The soldier was shot and believed to have died, when the stunned doctors realize he is alive and needs further medical attention right away. Once he comes to, Jack navigates to his native Vermont, afflicted by bouts of amnesia. Hitchhiking to get around, Jack is picked up by a man who murders a police officer when he is pulled over while Jack is in the car. Jack is accused of murdering the police officer, and is sentenced to an institution for the criminally insane. Once admitted to the hospital, he unwillingly becomes a participant in a Doctor Thomas Becker's (Kris Kristofferson) experiments. The experiments have Jack laced into a heavy straightjacket in the drawer of the morgue. Throughout this "treatment", Jack gets flashbacks of the future and the effect is has on a little girl (Kiera Knightly) headed for a troubled life because of her alcoholic/drug addicted mother he meets while hitchhiking. When one flashback shows that he will die within the week, he engages in a race against time to save the girl and her mother. This film was not my cup of tea, as the saying goes. The character development seemed minimal, and when it was fleshed out, seemed as if nothing good had ever happened in these people's lives. The film was shot in a gritty, dark way, which fit the story line; but was a little difficult to view as some scenes were difficult to discern due to the extreme darkness of the screen. Admittedly, I'm also not a huge fan of Adrien Brody's. His acting was wonderful in The Pianist, but I have just not been impressed with him since. So, granted, I am biased against the actor, although I'm always willing to be proved wrong, I just wasn't this time. The overly dark sets and lighting were detractors that were too difficult for me to overcome. The story was an interesting one, but perhaps could have been better developed or fleshed out. The Jacket had me hopeful, but in the end left me just wanting a better story out of it.Fans of Adrien Brody's will surely enjoy the film and its message which I thought to be escape. Even though the experiments were so intrusive and painful for Stark, he didn't want them to stop. He used the experiments as an escape. Maybe he wanted to help people; or maybe he just wanted to leave his own reality behind for a little while. Whatever the reason, Stark was anxious to escape. Unfortunately for the audience, poor casting and a convoluted film, made me want to escape while watching it. It's safe to say, I won't be visiting this film again, if I can help it, in this dimension or another.

This is Jacob's Ladder type of film. Where Jacob's Ladder was a more comprehensive and detailed film. This is a shorter version I guess. Jack Starks probably dies when the small kid shoots him, but before dying or while dying he sees a dream where he visualizes everything that we see in the film. Of course this is my take on the film.We can also say that Ryan Gosling starer "Stay" was also same kind of a film. This is kind of a film that leaves viewers with multiple options regarding how/what the film is. Adrien Brody was good as usual. he's a perfect cast in such kinds of intense films. he seems very natural doing such films. The story of the film is Adrien Brody (Jack Starks)is shown in Iraq war (1991) he gets shot and considered dead. But later on he's seen alive by the crew.Later on the story unfolds and Jack is suspected of a murder, tried and sent to a mental institution. Where he becomes the object of doctors' experiments. He's enclosed in a morgue drawer braced with a jacket. He dreams there and can see future events. If you liked Jacob's ladder,The Machinist, Stay etc. you'd like this film as well.
