My R.S teacher made me watch this but she completely misunderstood the meaning. It was just boring and hasn't achieved anything another hasn't achieved before. Also we broke a Lindt chocolate bunny and it went all over the carpet which was more interesting than the whole film. Please don't watch this

Every once in awhile, movie fans need to watch a great "what if?" movie to really get them thinking about extraordinary possibilities. "K-Pax" is exactly that type of movie. For a basic plot summary, "K-Pax" sees Prot (Kevin Spacey) suddenly appear in a train station with seemingly no explanation of how or why. According to Prot himself, he is an extraterrestrial from the planet K-Pax hear to "observe and report" on Earth culture. Predictably, Prot is placed in a mental institution where Dr. Mark Powell (Jeff Bridges) begins to unravel the mystery behind the strange (yet oddly inspiring) Prot. This is a great mystery/drama that will keep you engaged from beginning to end. Director Iain Softley gives the film great pacing and fills it with equal parts human drama, mystery, science fiction, and humor. If you have a single curious bone in your body, you'll quickly get sucked into the quirky Prot character and just how the heck we might be!A quick fair warning though: this is not necessarily the type of movie where all the "answers" are wrapped up in a nice bow for you at the end. It requires a lot of thought and introspection to truly figure out for yourself what you feel the "answer" truly is. I usually dislike those kind of conclusions, but here the subject matter becomes so compelling and fantastic that it makes sense of different interpretations of the preceding events to creep in.Overall, "K-Pax" is a great film for the intellectually curious or those who just love a great human drama mystery. Only those with a very limited imagination will completely dismiss it.

Sometimes a movie comes out that takes your breath away. This is such a movie, the cast are excellent, Bridges and Spacey scenes alone are worth the price. The visuals with light is mesmerizing, Iain Softly the director did a wonderful job, especially with the lighting, casting and choice of composer for the music. Edward Shearmuir is a great composer. His music blends so well with the abstract of the story line, intensifies at the appropriate tense scenes and just does the job. The story is very cleverly crafted to keep the viewer guessing right until the end and, even then, no definitive answer is given. However I would like to think there are enough clues and signs as the tale unfolds to point to the more extraordinary possibility as being the case. At the end of the day, if aliens really did travel to our planet from great distances, they could only do so by means we cannot even begin to comprehend. Once here, they are more likely to take form or a host which allows them to exist among us, than arrive in V style spaceships. There is a lot to learn from this film (which, although not as detailed as the book, is better that the book for mystery and realism). I loved this film from the start (even the music is excellent); it is a slow, unfolding mystery that manages to install different emotions and feelings within the audience. You don't have to like Sci-Fi to enjoy this film - there is something for everyone in it, and a lot to learn and think about. What we do in life, how we treat people and how we live our lives is the central theme for me. If someone is mad, does that make them less of a person? Does science, medical test and medication have all the answers? Happiness is a road, it is happening now, trap the spark and hold it there, you won't be disappointed. This provoking film is one that will stay with you for a long time after seeing it and is even better the second time.Overall rating: 9 out of 10.

I must have been in an emotional state when I saw this movie for the first time as I found myself crying throughout! I quite enjoyed the interplay between the Jeff Bridges character and the Kevin Spacey character but they were just as good apart. The impact upon seeing the sprinkler in the back of the ruin of a house laying in the long untended yard near the ruined swing set was an emotional jolt that I'll never forget and every sorrowful drama in my life came to the fore like a fountain that to this day resonates deep in my soul. It was a powerful movie, beautifully acted and directed and I encourage all to see it (unless of course you're more inclined to zombies, and horror films) but I assure even those types that the horror suggested by this movie is far more powerful, far more compelling!
