The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

A brood of fire-breathing dragons emerges from the earth and begins setting everything ablaze, establishing dominance over the planet. Reign of Fire is a really underrated film in my opinion i mean just look at the cast Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey and Gerard Butler? it doesn't get any better than that. Plus mixing dragons and action but not setting it in the medieval times or something like that was pretty smart and cool. The special effects on the dragons were very good and looked realistic enough and as for the perfomances? everyone did a really good job and McConaughey had one hell of a scene in the end. Definitely recommending this it's something new mixed with old stuff and alot of fun too. (A+)

The positives: Acting was ok, although the characters were mostly one dimensional, and the hero/pretty lady part didn't really grip me, and neither did the hero dad/adopted son part. Sound was very good. Visuals were good, but lacked depth. Both the Mad Max films and Waterworld did a better job at creating a dystopian wolrd. The idea behind the story was inventive and should have been a great story. The negative: A list of a few of the things that didn't make sense. * How did Denton Van Zan cross the Atlantic during one hour of dusk? * Why didn't Denton Van Zan & crew try to sneak into London by dusk when they knew the dragons couldn't see properly? Was it only Quinn who was smart enough to realize this cause he's the big hero? * How did the giant dragon know where the castle was? * And where was it? Near Edinburgh? Or just on the border of London? * What do dragons eat? Soot or flesh? If flesh, why did they burn everyone? If soot, why did they sometimes eat them alive? * What were the nuclear weapons used against? A superhigh consentration of dragons somewhere? That would be a city, but a city before the dragons get there would be manslaughter and after the dragons were there would be unneccessary because the dragons would leave when there were no more people there. And London was spared. So there's no place to nuke that makes sense, * When all the worlds army forces had been in ruins for 20 years after having so little success that Denton Van Zan is greeted as a magic man for having a dragons tooth, how come all it took to take out the giant dragon was an explosive shot from a crossbow? * After the big boy died, did all the other dragons just disappear? This film was jawdropping. I wish it was because it was good, but my jaw droped because my brain was unable to cope with all the logical flaws of the film and had no resources left to control my facial muscles.

I loved the film i would watch any time there are a few things they could have done a little better like more dragon fights shown us a bit about how quin got on after his mum was killed and as he came to be at that castle and where he is and little more.but over all the dragons were good realistic well if they were real or not once apon a time the visuals how the country has be devastated withe all the burnt down buildings showing there hardship trying to survive all in all i loved it.Don't know why there are those out there who say absurd things with whats wrong with it its a film not real life its a good film about dragons.

Although I expected more thrilling action, especially in the climax scenes, Reign of Fire is still engaging. And to see Mathew Mcconaughey, Christian Bale and Gerard Butler in one frame is like wow! The movie has an ashen look from start to end, probably the result of the nuclear explosions that was futile against destroying the dragon species completely. The performances are good from the entire cast and also the effects are realistic enough. Would I recommend it? No, because I felt disappointed with the final action scenes. Watchable for the acting(especially Mathew in a badass character) and some of the dragon encounters.
