I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

You've got all your talking points. Greedy corporations; ignorant, gullible religious people who are so "economically desperate they will believe anything" (read "cling to their guns and bibles); radio station with a preacher talking about Jesus providing food for your table and bullets for your guns; smarmy liberals chuckling smugly over those impossibly ignorant flyover folks.Liberals should not be allowed to make movies that are not based in Hollywood or NYC. It's amazing to me how wrong they get it when they make movies about religion - Christians in particular. But then again, they exist in an echo chamber, and no new knowledge can squeeze in.

I have to admit I liked this movie. I did not see the twist coming. The acting was great. The mystery was intriguing. The effects were astounding. The plot was enthralling and captivating. I could not find any weakness in this movie whatsoever and I am a big movie buff. If I think a movie sucks I will say so, but this movie did not. I think those saying it did are just trying to conform to what others are saying. I don't think they would know a good movie if it bit them on the ass. Give this movie a chance. No, its not a high budget huge production, but the story holds its own. Its a tiny bit campy with the "religious nuts" blaming and wanting to kill a little girl for what is going on, but the end soooo makes up for all of that. I never pick bad movies and I choose this one. So far everyone I have had watch the movie really likes it as well. I really wish they would come out with the sequel even though this one didn't do great in theaters. Hopefully, they will put it out on DVD and I will buy it. I think it was more of a made for T.V. kind of movie, but still a really good movie.

The shock ending is telegraphed in the first ten minutes of the movie. As a matter of fact every point of the plot is telegraphed to you through out the entirety of this "film". The PG-13 rating doesn't help, it automatically limits its audience to people who cant get into an R rated movie. A PG-13 rating also limits the plot to some watered down toothless drivel so as to comply with the Ratings Board. I don't know, I guess if you want to have a church youth group lock-in in the church's basement, like you could show this movie and no one would be too frightened or offended, is that a compliment or an insult? I don't know, maybe your'e on some weird airplane that shows movies from the early 2000's and your choices are The Reaping or For The Love Of The Game, I guess you could do worse than this movie.

I just watched this movie last night, and I thought it was a really creepy movie. Some people said that this really disturbing; I sort of disagree on that part. I do say that this movie is creepy. I thought Hilary Swank did a decent job playing as a person that lost her faith in the beginning of the film. AnnaSophia Robb (Loren) was the best part in the movie; her character adds more suspense and creepiness to the atmosphere. Just like any other movie, it has flaws. Overall, it's possibly one of the most chilling movies I've ever watched. I recommend it if you love the concept of the ten biblical plagues that's on a modern setting.
