Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

I really enjoyed The Punisher (2004) though I don't think Thomas Jane made a good Punisher he is a competent enough actor to have pulled it off.When I heard about this one 4yrs later I had no interest, I was frustrated that it had essentially been rebooted and that Jane was no longer playing Frank Castle.Here we are 9yrs later I've finally given it a chance and I'm saddened I didn't earlier. Punisher: War Zone is not the brainless action flick cash grab that I expected, in fact it rivals the 2004 version.For a start Ray Stevenson is perfectly cast as The Punisher, he looks perfect and blows Jane & even Lungren out of the water. He thoroughly takes the role and makes it his amidst a host of great actors and characters.Extremely violent and quite loyal to the original material this is something I could have gotten behind if it had become a franchise.I'm not an action junkie, in fact I'd say it is by far one of my least favourite genres but when its done right like it is here it makes for some great entertainment.Ignore the critics and put the 2004 version aside for a moment, War Zone is a damn decent film.The Good: Remarkably violent (As it should be) Awesome soundtrack Very competent cast Ray Stevenson makes a great Punisher The Bad: Accents are hit and miss Recasting/Reebooting so soon after the last movie was a stupid move Hero is a Christian, villain is an atheist. Overwhelming irony Jigsaw monologue scene was dumb Things I Learnt From This Movie:I would love to see this Punisher added to the Marvel Universe R-Rated superhero movies were a thing before Deadpool Julie Benz is ageless

Just came back from watching the movie and I was definitely pleased. I was a bit worried that I would be let down after reading some of the early reviews, my suspicious about the reviewers not understanding the character were confirmed though.Stevenson is a brilliant Frank Castle, the guy is a tank in this movie, however i do have to say that for me, he is no Tony Jones. shredding through his opposition just like a on screen manifestation of the character should. The critics complaining about the gore prove them unfit in being tasked with stepping anywhere near the film with a pencil and paper, doling out stars or thumbs.the plot other than to say that it was massively inadequate and was there just for the sake of having a plot. The action, albeit good and entertaining, was way over the top, and at many times pointless. Now don't get me wrong, I love a great action flick, but there comes a certain feeling of annoyance when the plot is practically ignored just to have Frank slay a herd of people. In my mind, and I'm pretty sure many of you will agree, the action is supposed to SUPPLEMENT the plot, not the other way around. This movie failed to do that.

Guys,in my opinion,that is the best movie ever done about the punisher. The people complaint about "way too much violence" and "strong language" but they don't see that this is the essence of the character.We all know that the bests histories of the punisher is that ones when he kills,torture and brutalized everyone. The director and the writer did a rare and exclusive thing:They bring all the violence and the good points of the comics to the movie.The actor Ray Stevenson(different of the 2004 actor's)Really looks like frank castle;Dominic West did a great job Whit Jigsaw,as Doug Hutchson did with "Loony Bin Jin" Resuming,i think that this is the best movie,because it really bring the comics universe to the movies.

I'm not going to spend a lot of time writing a review. I'll just say this movie was under rated and is exactly how a punisher movie should have been done. Also the guy they casted for punisher was way better then the other Frank castles.Too bad it didn't make enough at the box office to help the star reprise his role as Frank castle. The minimum review though needs to be at least 10 lines. so I will just also mention that the main bad guy also was exactly how to add characters to the street level marvel hero's. I'm tired of having the main bad guy being some mafia, etc.I definitely Recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of marvel or punisher.
