The Hillz (2004)

Admirable film.

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

One thing I find to be very confusing about The Hillz is the choice of main characters. The introduction scene shows them harassing a store owner, and generally acting like jerks to more or less everyone around them. For a moment I thought this was a brilliant move on the part of the director, to portray these thugs in an honest way without turning them into heart-of-gold anti heroes. Turns out however, that these were supposed to be our protagonists, the guys we were supposed to root for, the director was simply unable to make them look even the least bit sympathetic. Another strange thing about this movie is how violent it is, how casually it deals with violence, and how little consequence there is to said violence. thug leader Duff goes around arbitrarily shooting people for no reason, without so much as a hint of emotion, and the police are nowhere to be scene. It could be a reflection on our society's blasé attitude to violence, but it is more likely he was just not able to portray violence in any serious way. When you get down to it, The Hillz is just a badly acted portrayal of a bunch of deeply unsympathetic characters (that goes for both protagonists and antagonists alike) engaging in some light-hearted random violence. How that is not more exciting is a mystery to me.

The Hillz Is Kinda Funny But Its Weird I Don't Get It Needs A Better Plot. All I Get About It Is He Kinds A Gun And Kills People And The Movie Never Told You Why Or Nothing. I Would Not Waste Your Money On It If I Was You But Thats Just Me. To Pay For A Movie I Want It To Funny What The Movie It Not That Funny But The Funnyist Was OK. 2 I Want The Movie To Make Sense And This Movie Did Not Make Sense. 3 I Want The Acting To Be Good What Is Was Not Very Good In The Movie. 4 I Want The Movie To Be Enjoyable So I Can Sit There And Watch The Movie I Don't Want To Be Hoping I Was Not Watching It. And Thats Why I Disliked This Movie.

WOW!!!A bunch of untalented actors got together and shot the worst movie ever. i was only watching this because the whole 'white suburban rich kids starting a gang to be taken seriously' plot outline sounded funny to me but it was extremely boring. This was really bad. Really really bad.Usually in movies you're supposed to care about characters but there aren't any in this movie who deserve it. The main character is stupid and you can tell he doesn't care about being in the movie at all not only by his awful acting but it seems like he can't even take his role seriously. His narration in it was so boring and poorly done that it just gets painful after awhile. Paris Hilton was disgusting and horrible in it. She actually gets slapped up by her boyfriend and that was probably the only enjoyable part in the entire movie. There are police officers in it who are wearing boy scout uniforms for some odd reason (one of them gets killed by one of the "thug ganstaz").Everything about it was extremely amateur; camera work, script, direction, acting, and editing. A lot of scenes didn't make sense and were completely irrelevant to anything that was happening. This was just painful to watch and don't waste your time. Don't pay to rent this disaster. It will just encourage them to make more movies which is not what we need. Someday this may have some novelty value and be so bad it's good, but for now it's just one of the worst films i have ever seen.-15 out of 10.

LOL I give this movie an 8 out of 10 if you want something to laugh at. I bought The Hillz only because Paris Hilton was in it, although she didn't have a huge role. This is the funnest movie to watch if you are high. I wish the guys would stop picking on Ahkmel so much LOL, but that makes the movie funnier. I hope the writers were not planning something serious when they decided to make this movie. Come on, how could a bunch of spoiled rich brats from Beverly Hills decide to go around killing everybody without anyone noticing/caring??? The plot is so unrealistic, which adds to the humor. It is supposed to be a thriller, but I'd say it's definitely a comedy.I have made some of my friends watch it, and they all thought it was funny but incredibly stupid. HAHA LOVES IT!!!
