One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

About story: Nothing new in this film, same old villain, same old mistakes from the hero and revenge. I already read several reviews in IMDb and other sites about the wastefulness of seeing this movie, but I too thought, like you may be thinking now, that this reviewer may not be telling the pure truth, may be he didn't like Sunny,,,,etc. After the first 30 minutes anyone could easily guess the story, I too did and at no place I was wrong.Casting: Urvashi Rautela is looking pretty and glamorous. Sunny has maintained good physique and his acting is also solid. Amrita Rao's introductory parts look weird from acting angle.Prakash Raj did very good from his part as always. Johnny Lever is not finding great like in his beginning periods. This is my first review, please forgive my ignorance if I hurt anybody or if anywhere I went wrong. My rating is 3/10

There was a time when Sunny Deol was the reigning action hero as he had charisma and personality to pull off the action-drama roles with ease. After a long gap, he emerges back from the surface and gives you a punchy hardcore masala film.Singh Saab The Great tells the story of a messiah who believes in "Change" rather than "Revenge" as he suffers a setback after losing his wife in a good verses evil battle. From the director cult Gadar, Anil Sharma brings back the action- melodrama of 90's into the current scenario. Though the theme of the subject is well-intentioned , it is direction and screenplay which takes a backseat. The first half of the film literally does not have any impactful scenes except for the interaction between Sunny Deol and Prakash Raj. It is the second half which makes the film interesting and whole pictures heaves a sigh of relief. Art direction and cinematography are good. Action scenes are over-rated. Not sure why Hindi films displays people flying in the air with a single punch. Music is terrible. It is Sunny Deol who saves the film from falling into pit. He emotes, punches and delivers exceptionally well. Amrita Rao and Prakash Raj are passable. If you are big fan of Sunny Deol, you will enjoy it otherwise it is a plain average film. Decent 2.75/5

Sunny Deol's fading career got a filip with Gadar in 2001, After the average runner Indian again his films started flopping, Anil Sharma again teamed with him in a debacle THE HERO in 2003, Later in average APNE in 2007. Now they reunite in Singh Saab The Great. The film tries to show Sunny in a character however they don't miss his Dhai Kilo Ka Hath and loud fury. The film starts with showing Sunny as a social reformer in a pagdi then going through flashback where he was an innocent collector who was forced to take bribes by the ever predictable Prakash Raj. The first half resembles any Sunny Deol film from 90s, we have a bubbly heroine who is killed midway, Johny Lever returning to his loud sidekick role, songs and dances. There are few scenes well handled like Sunny throwing Prakash in fire, The scenes where Sunny takes revenge through a movement are well handled, but soon the film gets into predictable badla 80s inspired cinema, and the action scenes are too artificial resembling BIG BROTHER type films, The climax is simply stupidDirection by Anil Sharma is average Music is nothing new Sunny Deol plays his part as usual but his shouting does get to the nerves, he is good in the romantic scenes which are too many sadly and get nerve wrecking. Urvashi in her debut film is okay though she doesn't get much to do Amrita Rao is quite good except her accent, sadly this wont help her fading career Anjali Abrol as Sunny's sister is good, Prakash Raj is getting too repetitive in fact in most of his films after Wanted he has done same act in Bollywood and his act is getting more and more boring. Johny Lever is boring, Manoj Pahwa, Yashpal Sharma are okay Dharmendra and Bobby Deol make predictable appearances

Sunny Deol has always been my favorite actor when it comes to action. I don't think there is any other actor in Bollywood who can execute action sequences with as much intensity as Sunny does it and whatever action he does he pulls it off so convincingly that you don't have even fraction of doubt about it.Unfortunately his last couple of movies hadn't been successful, probably because taste of audiences changed in last couple of years specially in metros (though on single screens people still die to watch his actions).I genuinely feel Sunny is one of the most underutilized actors in Bollywood and whenever directors like Santoshi,Anil Sharma or JD dutta utilized him fullest he has come up with performances which can be matched bu none. none means none. I can't recall a single confrontation scene in any other actor's movies which has so much intensity as it has in Ghatak when Sunny says "Utha Utha Patkunga,Utha Utha Patkunga, Halak me hath dal ke Kaleja kheech lunga Haramkhor". I have watched Ghatak so many times but let me tell you I still feel enthralled when I watch this scene in Ghatak. It is the best fight scenes I have ever watched in a movie and I can bet no one else can do it that way. Coming back to SSTG, I found it entertaining from beginning to end with some very nicely choreographed and done action scenes. My favorite action sequence has been the one just before the lunch where Sunny lifts and throws Prakash Raj in to the fire. Oh my God... I have never seen this kind of scene at least in last 10 years in any movie. And when Sunny does it you don't find it over the top becoz you know he really can do that. It really deserves big clapping and whistles from audiences. Direction is good which could have been better and screenplay could have been made bit more meaty but Sunny's performance covers it up. Watch it if you like raw and real action. Watch it if you believe that roaring is one of the natural attributes of anger and there is nothing ridicules about it. and last but not the least watch it for the man whose Dhai Kilo ka Hath has become 5 kilo ka hath now.Giving it 9 out of 10 for one and only Sunny Deol.-Saurabh
