A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

The plot line is familiar: nice young guys get involved with prostitutes and gangsters, rough and tumble action follows but with a lighthearted touch, and all ends well. While derivative of RISKY BUSINESS and rougher, more recent fare from Tarantino and Guy Ritchie, this movie has a touch that is all its own. I'm not Polish and don't speak the language, so I'm sure I miss a lot of the jokes, but on its subtitled face this movie still exerts a certain charm; it seems to be more than the sum of its parts, and left me feeling oddly elated.Ostensibly the hero is Maciej Stuhr as the music student, and the meatiest role goes to Cezary Pazura as the gangster, but to me the heart of the film is Michal Milowicz as the bumbling son of the mafia boss, a wanna-be tough guy who hides his dachshund from the real tough guys, who expect a pit bull; I'll be watching for more of his movies.

One of the best comedies. It shows very interesting people: gangsters, but from an other side, they are shown from the man within them. The story is simple, but good enough to hold the characters, which are one of the most interesting ones, I've ever saw.The dark pictures, the music, everything makes this movie to be satiric and funny together. The story follows the main character, who is stupid enough to get with "gangsters", he has nothing to do with them, expect that they have something with him. Everybody like to save/kill him, but these people have bigger problems with themself.

One of the best comedies of the late 90s. It is a satirical look at the gangsters of Poland and some teens who get into a mess with them. The humour is black, sometimes vulgar, and always hilarious. There are some "inside jokes" here that are not so simple to understand outside of Poland, however most of the humour is universal. Most of the actors belong to the new generation of Polish actors, and all of them are very talented.
