To me, this movie is perfection.

It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

A young long-hair student go to the hairdresser and decide to cut everything out... Moo tries definitely to forgot his past and disappeared, without telling his mother where he is going, he takes his bag and take the first train direction the south of Thailand... While he finally arrive at the sea side, he decide to climb on the roof of a boat to breath his new freedom, to finally fall down and break his leg... Constraint to stay at the hospital of Phangan island, we discover the reasons of his desire of changing his life through the letter he send to his "close friend" in Chiang Mai....A few years ago, while he enlisted to become a student in arts in Chiang Mai (north of Thailand), he met a really beautiful girl with a strong personality, named Dakanda. Studying together they become best friends quickly, but Moo falling in love for her doesn't know how to tell her... While he is writing his letters in the hospital of Phangan, he met Nui, a beautiful southern nurse who is really helpful and become another "close friend" with another personality... The movie challenge both girls through flashbacks...Beside a classic story, this movie really touched me when I saw it for many reasons, as I lived in Chiang Mai, I really felt nostalgic about the life shown and about the student culture of Chiang Mai... Very well shot, this movie was a mirror to my own life as well... I felt very shocked when my favorite book, "le Petit Prince" became another reference in the movie connecting the three characters... and their life. Phuan Sanit is not just a simple "student love movie" it has some real good direction and is culturally rewarding, another way to perceive the youth in Thailand. I was lucky to see this movie 2 years ago with English subs... Unfortunately nowadays the DVD version only exists in Thailand, and no English subs, a good way to put this movie to the grave...

If you ever secretly love someone ...You will love this movie for sure. Many stars in this film never act before but they did their job quite well and I think because of this director "Komkrit Treewimol" (this is the second film that he direct) who love this book and try to translate it to the movie and kept all of the aspect of characters to life. I can't find the words to describe this film , you have to see it for yourself , normally I don't like Thai film so much * + * (I'm a Thai girl) but Dear Dakanda sure can touch my heart ...After I see this movie for 4-5 times , It made me think ... If you can't be loved by someone ... may be it's because you have another one waiting for you.If you have a chance to see this film , grab it , it will make you laugh , cry and sigh cause may be some memory vividly in your mind.
