In October 1987 after many months on the road, it was in the elevated surroundings of the hillside open-air theatre at Lycabettus overlooking Athens that the So tour came to a climactic close. The three nights were filmed in what was the first-ever Peter Gabriel concert to be committed to film.

Good movie but grossly overrated
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
-Live In Athens 1987 is released on 16th September 2013 (17th in the US) on 2DVD, Blu-ray and digital video formats. The package contains both the full Live In Athens live show, complete with Youssou N'Dour and Le Super Etoile de Dakar's opening set for the first time, and also the "Play" DVD featuring 23 original promotional videos. -A warm autumnal evening in southern Europe. An open-air theatre cut into a hill, the lights of a capital city twinkling beneath. Five musicians take to the stage, five musicians at the peak of their game. A few thousand acolytes approvingly roar at their arrival. Ear-to-ear smiles are visible in every direction, both in the crowd and onstage. This is the last night of a tour. A long tour. A very long tour.
