It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

Pig Pen.... Oh man.. Where to start with this one. Well done overall. Entertaining, if that is one would consider entertaining. I'd prefer to say, captivating. Enter... a semi retarded kid, with a poor excuse for a human stain of a mother. Add in some other hopeful characters that at least exemplify some level of human decency. And mix in a sadistic boyfriend that is just what the mother asked for, and you get "Pig Pen". Not a feel good movie. There is an eventual revenge ending. Overall, I'd say realistic. My wife found it very disturbing. I found it hard to sympathize with the characters. As a movie buff whohas seen several thousand movies, I just have to call this one out for what it is, a disturbing, captivating, realistic portrayal of certain segments of society. For whatever low budget they had, they knocked it out of the park.

Just watched "Pig Pen", a 2015 very low budget indie film. This is without doubt, one of the most depressing movies I've seen. The story revolved around a young kid and his drug addicted Mom, and a sadistic boyfriend of the Mother. This is not for the faint of heart, what this kid goes through, is just flat out sick. But, the overall movie is done very very good, and even with the sickening subject matter, it succeeds by being very realistic and the graphic nature of the violence. Even though the whole movie is one big downer, it is done extremely well, and could very well be a sadistic crime on your late night news.

Strange little movie this is. Begins like a rather depressing kind of social drama but it ends with a punch in the stomach due of some very nasty violence. It's about a kid roaming the (depressing) streets and his mom. Trouble begins when the mom, a drug addict but rather caring mom, takes a new man in the house, a plain right psychopath. The film has this cheap looking thing about it. But that only helps the dreadful atmosphere this film is bathing in. Acting is kind of wooden and some dialogue scenes are simply to long, but like I said the end is a punch in the stomach. Not for everybody but those who are searching for something original and daring: give this film a try.

This movie is one dark and depressing story about a young boy and his mother and her violent boyfriend and what happens to them all over the course of a few days.A lot of the story is told in flashbacks; that illuminate the decisions that the boy and his mother make to try and survive in a cruel world.The story is actually very well acted and well told; but anyone looking for an uplifting story better look elsewhere.A solid 5 out of 10 for the quality of the story.
