A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

If you have a big musical hit riding heavy at your back, then it really becomes tough to meet the huge expectations with your second movie. At times directors have managed to deliver an even better product as the second project in the past. But Abbas Tyrewala fails to surpass his own set standards of a good musical love story with JHOOTHA HI SAHI.Starting off with an interesting yet very lazy sequence of John Abraham, receiving wrong phone calls from young suicidal people, the film opens on a pretty confusing note. Though John tries hard to pose as a dumb and self-doubting person in contrast with his famous persona, but the powerful off screen enigma of the star doesn't let you believe in the character he is playing in the movie. And that's where the film fails to impress the viewer from its very first scene which is also long enough to make you feel restless.Further taking his small references from various Hit western projects and again naming the film on a Hit Bollywood song from the Golden Era, the other mistake made by Abbas in JHOOTHA HIS SAHI is to cast his wife Pakhi in the role of the leading lady. The girl, who also happens to be the writer of the movie, has no doubt got some beautiful and appealing looks, but she actually lacks the required star-presence standing in front of the dashing John Abrahm. Pakhi surely could have proved her talent in a more convincing way in another low profile movie. But here as the leading lady of John, she completely looks like a misfit with no exciting chemistry visible between the two on the screen and also looks pretty aged in several shots. So mainly 'JHOOTHA HI SAHI' doesn't work because of its wrong casting choices made by the same director who gave us the hit JAANE TU YA JAANE NA, which ironically had worked only due to its perfect cast and its freshness. Moreover this time, instead of having some emotionally rich sequences, Abbas surprisingly stresses more on lengthy verbal confrontation scenes between his characters which even become intolerable at regular intervals in the film. For instance, the over the top scenes between the pregnant girl and her sincere boyfriend, the suggestive dialogues between the gay characters within the friend circle, the un-necessary remarks on the people living in India and Pakistan and a highly filmy climax leave you simply unmoved. Moreover the leading lady remains the most confused character in the script (written by herself) as she keeps shifting between her two boyfriends John and R. Madhavan towards the end of the film. And that also raises an important question in mind that why Madhavan consistently keeps featuring in such kind of post interval roles where he is not given anything concrete to do on screen. In short on the performance front, there is no one coming out with something exceptional in his or her portrayal of the given role. And therefore the film is not something which can be stated as "From the director of JAANE TU A JAANE NA" as written in its posters.Musically too, JHOOTHA HI SAHI is not the kind of stuff which was being expected from the hit pair of Abbas & Rahman post their major musical HIT JTYJN. Few songs like "Cry Cry","Hello Hello" and "Jhoota Hi Sahi" are good but I strongly feel that our audience appreciates the music of a HIT film more than the below average one. Had this been a good movie then its music surely would have been enjoyed more by everyone, in a different manner altogether. So in a way, the soundtrack gets less attention from the viewer due to the below average result of the project overall. Having said that I also feel that the music of this film may have suffered due to the other major projects being handled by the maestro in that period too as it gives you this feeling in bits and parts in its songs. In all, JHOOTHA HI SAHI can be called as an overconfident product which falls way short of its huge expectations, becoming the victim of its wrong casting choices by the director. So unless you really wish to watch the strong John in a weak role, just restrict yourself from seeing this.

Technically the movie is very good, especially the screenplay is very good and the performance of Jhon, Pakhi & Raghu is nice as well. Due to this two reason I like this movie. The idea of this romantic story is a new experiment in Hindi movie, which is not acceptable by a big majority of people also the music was not so effective its unbelievable that AR Rahman has given such music. The comedy and romantic scenes were nice and people enjoyed it, the co-stars has done their job well and comedy timings was good.Pakhi as and actress was very good at her role and she looked so fresh, John was good as well in his comic and romantic role. The film didn't run well on box-office due to the new concept of romance and the frequent use of English in the dialogs. I observed that the best part people couldn't enjoyed due to the language problem. Perhaps next time this should be taken care..

Something is wrong. Yes, something is terribly wrong. Either there is a problem with me, or there is a problem with the majority of Indian audience. I'm saying this, because I loved this film. Yes, you heard it right, I loved this film which most of you called crap and time waste stuff. When you people can accept the recycled, re-re-re-re-re-used, clichéd, melodramatic Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, why cant you accept this fresh and beautiful Jhootha Hi Sahi?? I still remember, Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na was 70% 'Niram' (It's a Malayalam Movie released in 1998, and later remade to Hindi as Tujhe Meri Kasam with Reitesh Deshmukh and Genelia D'zouza). The rest 30% was the Khan brothers comedy, the Photoframe-dad portion, and all. In fact, apart from these two things, the movie was a crap. Then how did it become such a success? The answer is simple, there are big names behind. Aamir Khan, and his nephew Khan making a debut. Then AR Rahman, the Mozart of Madras. And what the makers did is, from the beginning they brought a false sensation of youthness and freshness in the movie, so that all the youth got attracted. It even had a song of heroine being sad because of her cat's death, and hero making her happy. Also, there was a 'Pappu' song, in which Pappu danced quite well, though. Then there was sister-brother-chooha fight, search for a girl, the new girl episode, self realization and mutual understanding, airport singing!! That's all!! I still wonder why this went out to be a big hit!!But, Jhootha Hi Sahi has no Pappu song, there are no FUNNY moments (if you think JTJYN had funny moments), Jhootha Hi Sahi is a honest attempt from a director who badly wants to come out of the clichéd world and do something new and innovative. People had drawn parallels with the 2002 film 'University', I don't know, I haven't watched that film. But, this is a very good film, and I feel pity about the audience and the critics who gave a thumb down to the movie. The movie is fresh, the performances are nice, and it offers at least 3-4 good songs. The song lyrics are penned according to the situations, and the entire movie is shot well. The only drawbacks one can find are Mansi Scott who played John Abraham's girlfriend, she acted well, but didn't look good. Also, the climax of bridge opening and John jumping, etc were usual bollywood stuff. But, apart from that, it is a very good movie. The performances are awesome. While John Abraham shines in his new avatar, the real showstealer is Pakhi Tyrewala, who surprises us with a fine performance, and well written dialogues. Among the other cast, Raghu Ram is awesome!! Also, Alishka Varde and George Young shared very good chemistry. The cameos by Madhavan and Nandana Sen were nice. The music, as I had reviewed earlier, is good. There are good songs in the movie, and they are placed at apt places. Even the song 'Pam para' looked okay on screen, which otherwise I don't like.On the whole, I loved the movie when I watched it. It is very sad thing that such a good movie flopped severely at box office. :(

Abbas Tyrewala delivers another plain, light & lovable movie. The best thing about JHS is that every character has his/her role to play and no character is wasted. The movie has an interesting plot & it keeps you glued for two & a half hours. It includes a good humour & good dialogues. The acting has been superb from every person of John Abraham's gang in London! John,as always, delivers a innocent & lovable character whom you would fall in love with.Debutant actress Pakhi looks mature as an actor & delivers a good act.Raghu Ram is in his natural avatar & stands on expectations in his first film.Apart from these, the other actors also have their roles to play, and they do really well.R.Madhavan has a guest appearance. But i wonder why he chose a 10 minute negative role like this, which doesn't make much effect! The screenplay is good & the camera is able to capture some beautiful scenes of London. The dialogues of the movie have been written well & some funny ones will make you jump off from your seats. One low point about this film is that music doesn't score much even when it's a two & a half hour long movie.Although the song "mere chehre ki....",which runs in the background,is good apart from "maiyya yashoda....". So,to sum up,JHS is a great venture for a superb weekend. It's a must watch! Just go for it! And always remember,Mt.K2 is a virgin peak! ;)
