1990s. Three friends Vova, Mamed and Lyokha go to school and dream, like everyone else in Russia at this time, to open their own business. But first you need money. This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
