Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

Here's one for May Robson fans. She has the title role and she easily creams the rest of the cast, thanks not only to her excellent performance, but a script that obviously was deliberately written to showcase her. Mind you that although May Robson dominates the action, the rest of the players turn in excellent work too, particularly the lovely, charismatic Irene Hervey (whatever happened to her? I can't recall any other starring or startling roles that she enjoyed). Dean Jagger has a showcase role too, while Douglas Dumbrille plays with his usual charisma as the main villain.Director Lynn Shores keeps the action moving at an excellent pace as the script moves to a superb climax. A fair amount of money was expended on this entertaining entry which was formerly available on an excellent Vintage Film Buff DVD. It's a movie that will appeal to almost everyone.
