With an Anthology series there are always hit and miss episodes. Metalhead is certainly not the best of episodes. A woman being chased around by a smart metallic insect for almost an hour with little background story, little dialogue and uninspired scenes was not too impressive. Some great episodes have nicely built up to something but Metalhead fails and is dull throughout. I think the writers needed a space filler episode and this was it. The black and white also does not work well for the episode as it seems even more dull and detached. 6/10

I guess I really don't understand black mirror according to the 10 star reviews... slow 50 minutes of a girl running away from AI dogs trying to kill her, no story, no twists, nothing interesting. She killed herself in the end and I couldn't care less, that shouldn't be the case.

Usually when i watch black mirror im drown in following the story line and i adore everything about it. With this one? i almost fell asleep ended up on my phone every 5 mins checking the time when its gonna finish. Didnt like the style didnt like the editing didnt like the script didnt like the plot. This is all my personal opinion if somebody likes it good for you but in my opinion it was one of - if not - the worst episode so far. Pretty much all of the Black mirror episodes are set in the future with all the fancy technology this one is probably supposed to be in the future too so why the black and white? This is not a play with shadows kinda film from germans new wave or a film shot at the start ish of the 20th century when they couldnt film it in colour. it just looks like they got lazy so made it black and white. They couldve played with lightning and colours make it faded away creepy dark instead and itd be so much more effective i think. I didnt like the script cause it was simply pointless. For good script the main character has to have a point be driven by something whether its money or saving someones life or ordering a cheesburger in mc donalds if you can make it interesting. But it has to be interesting. There has to be at least few plot twists or some important action or whatever . Im finishing my bachelor degree in film now and even when we write 10min short film you have to have at least 3 breath taking scenes that would hold the audience it back in the chair and wanting more and then the big big plot twist at the end. My scripts for 10 minute short films have more going on there than this 40 min story. You also dont get attached with the character. i didnt anyway. With most of the characters in this show or ny other one you try to be in the characters shoes you feel all their emotions and so on with this one theres nothing... Maybe if it was a short film itd be ok still wouldnt like it or re watch it but id definitely be easier to watch than this 40 minute running around from a mechanical dog with guys and knives bullshit.... (just want to point it out there im not hating on the series i absolutely love black mirror the episode before that was brilliant and pretty much all of them are worth watching just didnt really like this episode)

The shortest and harshest episode, in which we follow the misadventures of three people - soon to be reduced to single survivor Bella. We're thrown right in the middle of the action and we get out without any explanation whatsoever. This did not bother me, since some questions are better left unanswered. What bothered me was the videogame feeling of the episode: indestructible metal dogs that shot people in the head (and make it explode). They chase their prey relentlessly and the prey must find a way to fight back.Otherwise, game over. That's it, basically ... apart form the brief shot of teddy bears, to add "softness" - but they could have been just a token to move up one level.PS somebody advanced the idea that, while San Junipero is a sort of paradise - and we briefly see a postcard from San Junipero in the house - this must be hell. I still don't buy this explanation, since the videogame format seems to fit the plot so much better than a random "hell". Or, if this is actually "hell", then some background story should be given for anybody to care.
