This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

According to the back of the DVD box, "Black Cadillac" is based on a real life incident experienced by writer/director John Murlowski. I greatly suspect that his experiences and the movie only have the thinnest of connections, but that doesn't matter - what matters is if he made a good movie or not. There are some positive things about the movie. While it is low budget, it never looks it - it looks fairly slick. Also, there are some good tense moments here and there. But I don't think the movie quite makes it in the end. For one thing, there are some lengthy boring patches where you want to tell the movie to just get on with it. Also, the twist near the end is not only pretty predictable, it leaves the audience with quite a few unanswered questions that make parts of what you previously saw not make sense in retrospect. There are also some ridiculous bits, like people getting injuries that would clearly incapacitate someone in real like but the people are able to walk afterwards, as well as nobody bothering to wipe a message written on the thick condensation on the front windshield of a car. Don't get me wrong - this isn't a terrible movie - but you'll likely feel somewhat unsatisfied at the end.

Black Cadillac is about three young men driving around on an empty road having angered the patrons at the road house. Naturally when they're chased by an ominous black Cadillac they don't know what's going on. To add to their problems they run into a stranded cop who might not be who he seems.Naturally the film's quite spooky, although mostly we're watching these people drive while knowing what they know, which is nothing or at least very little. While this movie proves reasonably entertaining, it falls short of being anything special.

To heck with the Cadillac! It's the Saab that's really cool. This looks like a 1997 Saab 900, but it has some interesting features. The standard driver's airbag(s) doesn't work. Neither does the passenger side airbag, but that was optional, so maybe there isn't one on this car. The defroster doesn't work, since you can write in frost on the windshield and "...it's never coming off." But it does between scenes, since the frost seems to come and go. Plus, the Saab makes it about 90 miles to the State line in less than 40 minutes or so...driving in circles.Anyway, continuity errors aside, this is an OK film. A bit maudlin in parts, but interesting enough to hold your attention for 90 minutes.Randy Quaid does a great job, but everyone else is just average.Worth renting once.

Black Cadillac: Revenge In The Driver's Seat. Well put, well put. Sorry guys, I've gotta take the black beauty's side in this story, not the little red sloth. I'm not against little cars, i like the OLD vw bug, but, that aside, i guess i was actually routing for the "villian" in this story. And the vehicle, ha ha.That car, that right there is the single most beautiful machine to ever exist. It's tough as a tank, fast as a jet, and as attractive as Kiersten Warren. Damn, she's a babe! (Am I talking about the Caddy or KW? Well, a truth: not everything is black or white.)The setting: beautiful, the plot: beautiful, the car...perfect. And the movie's as close to it as any other.
