If you've never been good at anything in your life, why would murder be any different? Patrick has always had a somewhat combative relationship with his little sister Marilyn, but when she brings home her new sci-fi soap star fiancé Ryan, it's all out war. When Patrick fails to drive a wedge between the happy couple, he reaches for sharper instruments.

I'm about to confess something no Stargate: Atlantis fan should ever confess: I didn't like "A Dog's Breakfast." I thought the humor was forced and stale for the most part. A lot if it seemed almost cutesy, which is weird for a movie like this. The plot was incredibly predictable, although some of the situational comedy was not.I only really found crossdressing Paul McGillion funny, because he did it so well. Oh, and the sci-fi spoof that he was supposed to be starring in. But honestly, David Hewlett was playing a character altogether too similar to Rodney McKay, except ten times dumber, which is not a good thing, in my opinion.Although, admittedly, Chris Judge's couple of scenes were hilarious. Almost worth sitting through the boring, forced mess that is the rest of the film, which has an almost Home Alone meets Sweeney Todd feel, without the stirring musical numbers (which it might have been able to use).Overall, I think Hewlett was just trying too hard.

I thought the movie was brilliant! Is it a horror film or a comedy or both? You decide! Patrick meets his soon to be brother-in-law Ryan for the first time, and he does NOT like him. It is English humor and slap-stick comedy at it's very best from the cricket bat to the karate fight to the ax scene.I just die laughing every time I watch the part where Patrick(David Hewlett's character) is yelling, "Dance, Monkey, Dance!" and then runs around screaming like a girlie girl. It is scary how well he does that! Anytime you get to see David Hewlett wearing nothing other than a little rubber ducky...you gotta smile! It's done tastefully for the laugh and yet is still a great family film. There are a few scary scenes and they rated it PG-13...so not for the little kiddies...but wonderful for the older ones. Will Marilyn get to marry her man, or does Patrick get away with murder? You'll have to watch and see! *evil grin* Kimberly aka Kdvb1

I actually rented this movie expecting to be disappointed. We laughed almost the entire way through the film, and it was so strange and hilarious that I intend to purchase it at my first opportunity. You might need to possess that certain type of twisted sense of humor to enjoy it. But if you do, you'll enjoy it immensely.Every single member of the cast turns in a fantastic performance. Even characters who are seen for mere seconds become memorable. David and Kate Hewlett are obviously siblings, but they actually capture that antagonistic sibling relationship very well. These are the type of independent films I wish were being made. It is smart, funny, and well shot.

I loved this movie. It was a none stop laugh riot :) I'm a big fan of British comedies and that is what it reminded me of. There is a lot of great physical comedy and great interaction between the characters, especially Patrick and his sister and Patrick and the fiancée. A typical protective brother with a not so typical response in his attempt to protect his sister. The scene with the internet date was one of my favorites as well as a scene involving planting a cactus at midnight (you'd have to see it to appreciate them). And the ending was just a brilliant twist I did not see coming. All and all definitely worth the watch. I would definitely recommend it to people of all ages.
